I have psychiatry experience in helping in-patient, outpatient, and substance abuse clients. This includes those with; anxiety, depression, psychosis, bipolar disorder, and PTSD. I am trained to provide medication management for psychiatric problems throughout the lifespan. I strive to ensure that my clients are educated on their condition, medication, and that they are an active participant in their care-making decisions.

Dr. Catherine Permin, DNP, MSN, FNP-BC, PMHNP-BC, APRN is a nurse practitioner who provides healthcare in the primary care and mental health settings to diverse patients across the lifespan. Dr. Permin was born in a Danish family and spent her childhood in France. Subsequently, she traveled globally working in the horse industry before settling in the central Kentucky area. Dr. Permin is fluent in English, French, and Spanish and this allows her to provide culturally congruent care to patients whose native language may not be English.

By using a holistic approach, I assess and treat individuals as a whole. Treating you holistically means I will monitor lab work, blood pressure, heart rate, weight, sleep, diet and exercise habits, collaboration with your other providers, and lifestyle counseling. We will touch on each of these subjects during your visits. My mission is to develop a therapeutic relationship, listen to your concerns, and together customize a treatment plan with medication management and lifestyle counseling. I have a master’s degree in nursing informatics and a post master’s degree as a psychiatric and mental health nurse practitioner across the lifespan. I love seeing individuals of all ages.

The majority of my professional career has been spent caring for individuals in Central and Eastern Kentucky, thus, providing me with a greater appreciation of the unique circumstances facing my patients.
