I'm an experienced PMHNP-BC with a demonstrated history of working with serious mentally ill clients in the community and state hospital level. At Amplaa Behavioral Health our clients are encouraged to be active participants in their care. We provide expert care that is compassionate, empathetic, and client focused. Our clients through education develop a thorough understanding of their treatment options and are allowed to voice their preferences without the fear of rejection. Treatment plans are individualized based on their symptom presentation, mitigating factors, and standards of care.

Hi ! my name is Joel David Ortega and I am a board-certified Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, specializing in medication management of depression, anxiety, ADHD, and bipolar disorder for children and adults ages 7-99. I have ten years of experience as an in-patient registered nurse working with underserved populations in a rural state hospitals.

I treat all psychiatric conditions for patients of all ages (2-99), specializing in mood and anxiety disorders, substance abuse, sexual problems and sleep disorders as well as emotional, behavioral, and Neuro-Psychiatric problems from ADHD to dementia. I have expertise in most sub-types of addiction treatment including(but not limited to): treatment for alcohol or drug dependence, sexual addictions, and gambling addictions. I am licensed to prescribe Suboxone (a tremendous advancement in the treatment of addiction to opiates).

Many patients have not seen results from previous providers, or worse, received harmful care. They find my approach to biological and functional psychiatry appealing. I explain their symptoms, treatment options, and risks/benefits/alternatives "better than any provider has before" and I "think outside the box". We seek the primary Cause of problems via a holistic approach; rather than just prescribe powerful psychotropic medications for Symptoms via a trial-and-error method too commonly seen in this country for our level of knowledge and experience.
