Dominus Mental Health was established by Dr. Amenaghawon Ugwuede, DNP, PMHNP-BC, with the vision of delivering high-quality and evidence-based mental health treatment via telepsychiatry to individuals living in regions with restricted access and obstacles to mental health services. Dr. Ugwuede recognizes that certain communities, especially Black individuals and children of immigrants, face unique challenges when seeking mental health support. As a result, she has specialized in these areas and strives to provide culturally sensitive and affirming care that builds trust and understanding.

The decision to engage in therapy, initiate or discontinue medications may be difficult and anxiety provoking. Dr. Khinda’s warm, collaborative, and non-judgmental treatment approach assists in providing patient centered care in a safe and supportive environment. Dr. Khinda will work to specifically tailor treatment to the unique strengths and values of each individual, whether that means medication management, therapy, or a novel approach. Dr. Khinda is a double board-certified psychiatrist in Child & Adolescent, and Adult Psychiatry. She has trained at large, reputable healthcare systems.

Dr. Thertus completed medical school at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, followed by residency and fellowship in psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. She has broad experience treating a variety of psychiatric conditions, patients from diverse backgrounds and is double board certified in general and child and adolescent psychiatry. She emphasizes shared decision making , encouraging personal input in goal setting and the recovery process.

My goal is to help you improve your quality of life through the right combination of medications and therapy. My therapy style combines elements of psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), mindfulness, and supportive therapy…along with the appropriate doses of sensitivity, empathy and humor.

I'm a seasoned psychiatrist specializing in a spectrum of mental health facets like Anxiety, Social Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Seasonal Affective Disorder, Depression, Mood Swings, Premenstrual Mood Disorder -PMDD, ADHD, and Memory/Cognitive issues tied to aging, and perimenopausal problems. My approach combines personalized medication management with evidence-based psychotherapies tailored to each patient's unique needs. Fluent in Russian and Ukrainian, I am committed to providing compassionate, comprehensive care to enhance your mental well-being and improve your quality of life.

I have 40 years experience in the mental health field as a psychiatric nurse, and 24 years as a prescriber. I work with clients using a collaborative, holistic, compassionate approach that makes best use of my skills as a nurse. I work with children age 10 to adults, including elderly. I have a wide range of experience that varies from ADHD, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, trauma, dementia... life transitions... basically almost everything. I'm a strong believer in psychoeducation about medications and creating a partnership in the treatment process that is inclusive and empowering.

I offer psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, and, when appropriate, medication management, including MOUD (medication for Opioid Use Disorder) / MAT (Medication assisted treatment) for people with history of addiction, as well as gentle reduction of medications that no longer align with your needs.

Aliza Madden, APRN-BC, PMHNP-BC is a Board-Certified Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatry trained at Columbia University who provides insight-oriented psychotherapy, medication management, and integrative support for individuals ages 11 and up. Aliza helps her clients explore and work through their emotional challenges so that they can improve their relationships and overall mental health, change negative patterns of behavior, and find the freedom to live more fulfilling and meaningful lives. Sessions are offered in-person in Ridgefield, CT or via telehealth for residents of New York and Connecticut.

I help people with anxiety, depression, transitions in life, trauma, illness and grief. I customize the treatment plan to each patient's needs using psychotherapy, medication, EMDR, CBT, group therapy, self-compassion and mindfulness. Clients feel empowered to reach their highest potential in personal relationships, life and work. Welcome! I’ve been practicing in medicine for two decades; first as an RN, and then as an Adult NP. I worked with clients through depression, anxiety, grief, sleep disorders, pain, and chronic and acute medical conditions, for end of life care, and interventional procedures. After seeing the difficulty my patients were having accessing more specialized mental health care, I decided to advance my degree and completed my Post Masters as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Across the Lifespan at SUNY Stony Brook. I offer mental health care in NY & CT primarily via telehealth and meet with clients in person on an as needed basis.
