At Peak Sports Psychiatry, PLLC, I focus on diagnosing, treating, and preventing the mental health challenges that may arise in elite sport. Utilizing a nuanced, athlete-informed approach, I complete a thorough diagnostic evaluation and then collaboratively develop an individualized treatment plan for each athlete with the goal of optimizing performance on and off the field. With training in integrative & functional medicine as well as being double board-certified in Psychiatry and Family Medicine, I bring a unique and comprehensive perspective to mental and physical health care. My expertise allows me to offer an integrated approach to a wide range of conditions, including anxiety, depression, bipolar & mood disorders, PTSD, ADHD, and more. With extensive experience in psychiatry and hospital based medicine, I have developed an expertise in addressing the relationship between mental and physical well-being.

I am a psychiatrist that emphasizes the patient and doctor relationship. That means doing whatever is necessary to helping you become symptom free or achieve the goals that you have. I believe in utilizing cutting edge mental health treatments to help you. I implement the importance of therapy, and the strategic/targeted use of medications when absolutely necessary. Some of the areas that I have focused on is people struggling with depression, anxiety, mood fluctuations, relationship issues, and performance issues at work or with athletics.

My focus is to help you, as a unique person, heal, change, energize, be creative, and optimize your strengths. I can help you achieve this by listening to your concerns; providing a safe space for discussion and innovation, offering in depth psychotherapy with or without medication. Our clinic treats ages 5 & up. Sessions are conducted virtually (using a HIPAA compliant platform). We understand that medication management is not the only solution. The lifestyle that precipitated the stress response in the first plans needs to change. In addition to psychotherapy and medication management, we place high regards for modalities such as weight management, medical management, exercise, and sleep hygiene to combat the body’s inflammatory response, which exacerbates mental illness. We aim to uses the lowest effective dose and help people to eventually not depend on medication.

My practice specializes in trauma, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, and ADHD. I believe firmly in a holistic approach for both mind and body and am committed to providing clients with a personalized plan of care. I understand that treatment methods are carefully chosen for each person and that treatment begins with exploring and understanding the clients’ goals. I have a deep and personal understanding of trauma and am passionate about provided support around trauma and PTSD.

I have over 15 years experience working with and prescribing medications for young adults, adults, and the geriatric population in hospitals and outpatient clinics. I have training in Psychiatry and general medicine. The first appointment will be a focused evaluation where I will get to know you as an individual and ask detailed questions so an appropriate diagnosis can be made. Perhaps you are not sure whether medication is right for you, or you have had many medication trials in the past. During the initial evaluation, we will discuss the potential benefits and risks of medication for you as an individual.

I am a board certified psychiatrist currently accepting new patients. My practice is strictly through the use of telepsychiatry which means that all appointments will be held via HIPAA compliant video conferencing software. Many patients prefer this means of treatment as appointments can be done from the comfort of your home or office without the need for lengthy commutes or waiting rooms and it provides access to mental health treatment to patients located in more remote locations. I treat adult (18+) patients located in Colorado, Texas and Washington State though controlled substance prescribing may only be done in Colorado.

Amanda is a nationally certified and Colorado licensed physician assistant and medical provider at The Collective. She attended PA school in North Carolina and started her career in emergency medicine in Richmond, VA. Although she loved the fast-paced intensity of emergency medicine, it became clear that ongoing mental health support is critical, not only regarding psychiatric illnesses, but also medical conditions and day to day functioning. She decided to transition to outpatient psychiatry to be part of long-term solutions and management rather than the last line of defense.

In the pursuit of personal growth and healing, we all need authentic and compassionate support. I believe that every client is unique and deserves to be treated with highly individualized care. I take an empathic approach to understanding each individual's internal experience. As a prescriber, I specialize in helping people feel seen and heard, find the way to their goals, help to create a treatment plan to support their goals and determine if medications can be helpful along the way. Trained at UCSF, with more than 20 years of experience working in mental health, and a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner, I function similar to a psychiatrist. I assess and diagnose mental health conditions and create treatment plans focusing on wellness, therapy, nutritional psychiatry, and prescribe - when appropriate - psychiatric medications for children, adolescents, and adults.
