I'm a psychiatrist with a college degree in physiology and neurosciences, so I have a good scientific foundation of how the brain and body works. I'm also a strong believer in Christian faith, in particular Coptic Orthodox, and apply that when I can.

Dr. Anca Luminare earned her medical degree from the University of Medicine Cluj Napoca, Romania. She completed General Adult Psychiatry training at UCLA-Kern. She is an active member of American Psychiatric Association. Dr. Luminare is a warm, empathetic, and compassionate doctor that is always available for her patients.

I focus on patients with depression and those people who may be treatment-resistant, having not felt relief from their depressive symptoms with medication and therapy alone. I use Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), an effective treatment with relatively few risks and side effects, as an important tool to help my patients.

My therapeutic approach is compassionate and collaborative. I recognize that seeking help for psychological distress requires a tremendous amount of courage and feel honored to work with individuals as they navigate through challenging life situations. Often the path to healing is multifaceted and may involve weekly psychotherapy, lifestyle/behavioral changes, and/or medications. I specialize in treatment of adults with OCD, anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder and trauma related disorders. I primarily provide medication management services and have limited availability for weekly psychodynamic psychotherapy.

My interests in TMS and esketamine treatments stem from my belief that there is no one-size-fits-all to mental health treatment. I am interested in finding what works best for each individual, rather than relying exclusively on more traditional treatment modalities. My ideal patient is interested in pursuing personal wellness – whatever that may mean to them as an individual.

I am a board-certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with a high level of personal integrity who is compassionate and driven to provide culturally sensitive care to a diversified patient population across the lifespan. I am passionate about evidence-based practice and tailoring treatment plans to meet the individual needs of each patient.

I am a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP), trained across the lifespan but specialized with children, adolescents and families. In addition to practicing from a strengths-based perspective, I have taught child/adolescent/family psychotherapy at UCSF, where I am a Professor Emeritus in the PMHNP and DNP programs. Furthermore, I am a Fellow with American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (FAANP).

As a board-certified psychiatrist, I enjoy working collaboratively with adults, adolescents, and their families. I provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and expert use of individualized treatments, including psychotherapy, mindfulness-oriented therapy, medication management, and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). I have a special interest in OCD, Anxiety Disorders, Trauma, and Mood Disorders.
