Hello! My name is Melanie, but everyone calls me Mia. I know how disorienting life can feel in the aftermath of betrayal, loss and trauma. I also know that therapy can be a powerful tool to help people recover their sense of purpose and safety. As a therapist, I draw from a variety of approaches to help clients learn to treat themselves with compassion, grieve their losses, and move ahead with a restored sense of direction. You can expect me to show up as a sensitive, challenging and collaborative partner on this journey.
I draw from Internal Family Systems, Emotion Focused Therapy, and Somatic Experiencing to help clients develop compassion for themselves and curiosity about their symptoms. I'm happy to answer any questions you have about those modes of therapy!
Every client/counselor relationship is unique, and it's important to find a therapist you connect well with. I'm a warm and direct therapist, who will help you notice the patterns that are no longer serving you and develop new ways of engaging with the world.
