Anxiety, depression, loss of confidence or grief, these are just some of the ways in which our experience of life can be adversely impacted. Hello my name is Peter and I believe I have an intuitive sensitivity for my client’s emotional world which helps me to understand their thoughts and feelings, this in turn creates a strong connection between us that gives my client the confidence to share those important thoughts and feelings and together we can work to move forward. Sometimes we can experience problems, emotional difficulties and may not know why or understand what is happening, but we know things are not quite right.

Are you tired of overthinking and never feeling good enough? Are your relationships often difficult or disappointing? Are you struggling to relax and enjoy life? I can help you understand more about yourself, why you feel like you do and how to bring about real, lasting change.

Do you feel stuck, anxious or overwhelmed? Perhaps worry, lack of confidence or low self esteem is having a negative effect on your life, causing you to feel isolated and alone. Talking to loved one about what we are experiencing can feel difficult, we worry that we are putting to much on them or we don't want them to worry about us. Talking to a counsellor can be really helpful at these times and can show a way forward. However I understand that a good counselling relationship is vital to support you in moving toward your goals.

I believe that counselling is a collaborative process - we work together on whatever you feel to be most important. I will support you by finding ways to deal with uncomfortable thoughts and feelings, gently helping you to explore any worries or anxieties. We will work towards clarity about aspects of your life that are causing confusion by reflecting on your past to make sense of the present. Depression, anxiety and low self esteem often result from how we learnt to cope when our needs were not properly met at different stages of life. I offer an integrative approach where we work side-by-side creatively and safely.

I use my professional training and my lived experience to support adults with ADHD, no matter where they are on their journey.
ADHD does not come with a user manual. The growing recognition of ADHD among adults has left many feeling helpless, yet with a strong desire for change. I support adults, whether formally diagnosed or not, to understand themselves, identify strengths and needs, and pursue fulfilling lives.

Reaching out when you’re struggling takes a lot of courage, but whatever you’re grappling with, help will be here when you’re ready. Perhaps you've been diagnosed with ADHD or are on a waiting list for diagnosis. It might be that you struggle with low-self-esteem, or with feelings of never being quite good enough, valued enough, or loved enough. Maybe you are sitting with a lot of pain at the moment, whether through loss, relational difficulties, trauma or neglect. Whatever it may be, I'm here if you want someone to listen and be alongside you in all the twists & turns - your story matters & how you feel about it matters too.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioural therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
