I have years of multi-cultural experience counselling individuals and couples Neuro-diverse brains run in my family, so I am familiar with and take an active interest in supporting adults that suspect they are, or are diagnosed with such things as ADHD and Dyslexia.
In my experience people seek therapy because they feel desperate, and hold off on spending money on therapy until they absolutely have to, with this in mind I will do my best to offer a quick appointment using a variety of options - phone, online or home visit . All with sliding scale prices. If you have awful feelings that have taken all the joy out of life, maybe event stop you from thinking life is worth living, I'm asking you to give therapy a try because often, using small steps, given the right support, things can get better.

While not viewing diagnostic categories as the most helpful way of understanding these difficulties, I have worked successfully with people who identify with, or have been labelled with: BPD/EUPD, ADHD , ODD, PTSD, CPTSD, OCD, LD, ASD, anxiety, depression & body dysmorphia.
I am a registered psychologist and doctor of counselling psychology offering psychotherapy underpinned by a contemporary reading of the most relevant literature. I work from an attachment, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural perspective, integrating these to offer tailored ways of understanding and working with issues that will be unique to each person and set of circumstances. Most of the work happens in the room, though sometimes we might also set things outside of it, where appropriate.

My name is Pippa. I'm a compassionate integrative therapist, working with adults aged 18+. People come to counselling for many different reasons - you may have a specific issue you want to work through in therapy, such as challenging or controlling relationships, low self esteem, frequent distress or overwhelm or feeling stuck. Others have a persistent sense of something being wrong and feel that talking to an experienced counsellor may help. Or you may be looking for a therapist who can integrate approaches such as inner child work, attachment, or polyvagal theory. If so, reaching out is the first step to finding yourself.

Do you feel stuck, anxious or overwhelmed? Perhaps worry, lack of confidence or low self esteem is having a negative effect on your life, causing you to feel isolated and alone. Talking to loved one about what we are experiencing can feel difficult, we worry that we are putting to much on them or we don't want them to worry about us. Talking to a counsellor can be really helpful at these times and can show a way forward. However I understand that a good counselling relationship is vital to support you in moving toward your goals.

If this is a time when you need to talk to someone, then I am here to listen and help you find the strength to move forward. I offer a safe and supportive space, with understanding that facing our realities can be hard. Allow me to walk this path alongside you, and let us face the things that you find most difficult together, carefully, gently and with compassion. Acceptance and change can take time. It's okay to revisit things several times and we will go at a pace you are comfortable with. I charge less than most, because I have another income, and I am a strong believer in making therapy available to more people.

ADHD Counsellors

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioural therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
