Most of how we feel, respond and think is based on unconscious patterning beliefs. I am committed to providing a safe and compassionate space for you to feel welcomed where ever you are at. By shedding light on what is unconscious through the pathway of increased awareness major transformation, healing and new neural connections can occur. The secret to feeling more ease lies in examining the core issues that are causing the distress and look directly into those places that we are avoiding. This approach arises from my experience that lasting change occurs when metal, physical, emotional and spiritual systems are all involved.

Feeling depressed, stressed, anxious, or ongoing emotional or physiical pain. I can help. Recognizing stressors and introducing coping strategies, somatic teachings, and mindfulness into our sessions, we gradually see lasting changes in behavior, emotional regulation, cognitive restructuring & positive mind traits. My focus is not only on your immediate areas of concern. By taking into account the whole of you, we together collaborate to gently explore and be curious about deeper-rooted patterns. EMDR and other somatic treatments assist us in uncovering insights into your past and aid the body in naturally healing past traumas.

Navigating life's difficulties can cause us to feel disconnected, exhausted, and frustrated among other things. Whether ongoing or temporary, they can erode our ability to tap into the very things that have supported us thus far—our strengths, values, and tenacity. When working with children I use play therapy techniques, and offer parenting support to parents/caregivers throughout the process.
I collaborate with clients to help them pursue healing, growth, and change in their lives. I support clients as they work through trauma due to present and past events, and to form meaning and purpose moving forward. I combine EMDR, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and play therapy, depending on clients' needs. I offer family mediation for those experiencing separation or divorce, to improve communication and build a path forward. I work with individuals, couples, and children. My hope is that clients achieve personal goals, connectedness, resolution, and the ability to face life head on.

I apply Play Therapy and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy to help children with anxiety, attention difficulties, stress, behavioural concerns, bullying, grief and loss, parent-child conflict, and support children's feelings after their parents' divorce.
Children experience the world differently. Adults can talk; children prefer to play. Play therapy allows freedom and growth. The play experience takes children's focus off negative self-talk and promotes positive self-awareness. Play therapy helps to explore emotions, work through challenges, and nurtures mastery and resilience. As a Registered Play Therapist with advanced training in play therapy, I can help you find a way to connect with your child. A fully equipped playroom with special toys allows children to fully express their feelings, and supports their growth and changes.

I see children for ADHD, psycho-educational, and mental health assessment, and provide parent coaching/consultation for concerns with children.
We all experience times in our lives when we struggle, whether it be with mental health, relationships challenges, life transitions or a lack of purpose. We need to be gentle with ourselves and give ourselves grace as we move through the different stages of our lives. Sometimes it feels messy, and collaboration can help us to make sense of it. From an attachment-based and trauma-informed perspective, I will help you work through your circumstance and move forward in a way that is healthy for you.

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
