With the help of Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and an underlying Humanistic approach, we can walk through the counselling process together in a collaborative, compassionate way that promotes both growth and healing.
Living with chronic pain can be a debilitating experience, impacting every aspect of one's life. From simple daily tasks to the ability to enjoy hobbies and spend time with loved ones, chronic pain seems to cast a shadow on everything. Drawing from my background in Kinesiology, some of my clinical counselling specialisations include chronic-pain management, post-concussion treatment, and psychological trauma. I have had the privilege of connecting with clients of a wide range of cultural, religious, and circumstantial backgrounds, allowing each client's own personal set of values to guide the counselling process.

Life is a long journey embedded with moments of twists and turns. We inevitably encounter challenges and unexpected difficulties. Sometimes, we may find it hard to move forward on our own. Loss of our loved ones, change of environment, experiences of trauma, damaged relationships, deteriorating of health, career uncertainties...all might make you feel overwhelmed by anxiety and powerlessness. You might lack courage and strength to continue your journey. When you wrestle with moments of tough times, let me walk with you. My experiences and expertise can help you regain the power and resilience to thrive through the journey.

Are you tired of arguing with your child or teen about their grades or completing their homework? Is your child highly sensitive, resistant to feedback, or difficult to motivate? Many parents start to seek educational support services for their child or teen when they receive a less-than-ideal report card from the teacher. Others perhaps start to notice signs that their child or teen may not be performing as well as they are capable of. Regardless of whether your child or teen has a diagnosed learning difficulty, mental health concern, or some other form of neurodiversity, I am here to help restore peace and calm to your family!

Starting counselling can feel overwhelming and making that first move can be the toughest part. I believe we are not meant to face life’s challenges alone, especially during tough times. My role is to walk alongside you, offering support as we uncover what brought you to counselling. Our work together will be collaborative, tailored to meet you where you are and allow you to move forward at your own pace. I take an integrative therapeutic approach that welcomes all parts of you. I focus on integrating mind, body, emotion, and spirit, while also considering the social, cultural, and familial influences that shape your story.

In our sessions, I offer a warm, non-judgmental space where you can freely explore your thoughts and emotions, so we can create meaningful change together. While counseling can be challenging, I believe it should also include humour, hope, and comfort, making it a place where you can truly learn and grow. Many of my clients seek support during life transitions or when grappling with an inner critic and overwhelming emotions. I specialize in helping with anxiety, depression, ADHD/ADD, parenting and family dynamics, relationship issues, grief and loss, trauma, psychedelic integration, and career concerns.

How does humanistic therapy work?

One tenet of humanistic therapy is that people are good. The humanistic approach is concerned with a person’s ability to accept oneself. It likewise encourages a person to overcome self-criticism and self-defeating tendencies, as well as disapproval from others. This approach also emphasizes self-actualisation and treating an individual as a whole person. A foundation of this therapy type: The patient is the expert in their life, and treatment often takes the individual’s lead.

Is humanistic therapy evidence-based?

Humanistic therapy is an evidence-based practice. Research has found that humanistic therapy can lead to significant improvement, and for some people it can be just as effective as other therapies, such as Cognitive behavioural therapy. The benefits of humanistic therapy are enduring.

How long does humanistic therapy last?

The goal of humanistic therapy is to understand a person’s day-to-day experiences. While sessions can be short-term and last over a few months, therapy can sometimes continue beyond that and last up to a year or more. And because patients learn the theory behind humanistic therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have been completed.

Is humanistic therapy effective?

According to research, many patients find success with humanistic therapy. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in addressing poor self-esteem and self-sabotage, as well as improving conditions including anxiety and depression. Improvements in problem areas can be long standing, as individuals can continue working on themselves by using the tools they’ve learned during treatment.
