My experience as a former teacher and behavior specialist, combined with the lived experience of being a second generation Canadian, and parent of a larger family enables me to bring a unique and supportive perspective to the therapeutic space.
Overwhelmed, stressed and or burnt out is how a lot of people are feelings these days. Perhaps it's a struggle with parenting, or maybe you have come at crossroads in your relationship. It may be the search for more balance in your life or you are experiencing a life change. Whatever the path is that lies before you, you're looking for support on that journey.

Wamkelekile- Welcome & thank you for being here. I am a Bantu woman who has spent the last 13 years walking alongside people from different walks of life and holding space for their healing journeys with compassion and curiosity. I believe in de-pathologizing and re-humanizing mental health, while seeing and valuing people in their authentic wholeness. Although my targeted people are: those who are racialized as Black, Indigenous peoples and all equity seeking humans who might be struggling with identity-based trauma, intergenerational trauma and/or racial trauma, I am open to working with all those who feel aligned with my values.

I am a Registered Social Worker, currently completing my internship as the final component of my Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology degree under the clinical supervision of Gillain Easton, MA, BSW, RSW. As a generalist medical social worker, I have had the privilege of working with diverse patient populations, presentations, family dynamics, and presenting issues, across the lifespan. This work propelled me into doing my master’s degree sooner than I had initially planned, as it fuelled my passion to gain the skills, knowledge, and competency to hold a different role in the helping process.

My specialized training includes Couples & Sex Therapy, Complex Trauma, Somatic Therapies, Child & Family Counselling, Grief & Loss, Multicultural Sensitivity, and Art Therapy.
Many of us struggle with self-doubt and inconfidence. It's like we’re carrying around an invisible weight that holds us back from feeling fulfilled in our relationships, work, and personal life. Core misbeliefs, often shaped by early life experiences, have a deep impact on our self-perception, choices, and behaviours. With more self-acceptance and by realizing your own truth, you can move past the walls that are impacting how you feel and think, and proceed with more confidence and compassion. It's a journey, but with each step you get closer to living a life that's true to who you really are.

As a queer counselling therapist with a strong background in theology and evangelical Christian culture, I am uniquely able to offer empathy and understanding to those who are navigating the process of understanding and integrating their sexual and/or gender identity within the context of their Christian faith and family.
My name is Naomi Isaac (she/her), and I am a queer therapist who specializes in working with individuals who may be struggling to integrate queer and spiritual identities. Queer people from religious faith backgrounds (and their families) are often marginalized by both the queer community and their faith community, and may feel alone in the struggle they may have to understand their queerness in the context of their faith or religious upbringing. Having a therapist who is familiar with both worlds, who will respect all aspects of their identity, is crucial in working through these unique challenges in counselling.

The impact of adverse childhood experiences often colours our choices, responses and reactions to the challenges of everyday life. These childhood experiences often manifest themselves in how we experience ourselves, as well as in our relationships with our spouses, partners, family, friends and co-workers. I have over a decade of experience working with individuals, couples and families struggling with trauma, relationship challenges, substance abuse, and domestic violence.

In addition to extensive training, my work is shaped by my own life experience, including separation/divorce, blended family life, grief/loss, parenting and major life transitions.
“We’re all too vulnerable to face the hugeness of life alone. It doesn’t make sense to do that… we need each other” (Sue Johnson). I believe that meaningful connection with ourselves and others is central to our wellbeing. Unfortunately, painful past experiences and unhelpful patterns can sometimes get in the way. Relationship struggles can erode our self-worth and leave us feeling anxious, depressed, exploited, and alone. They can also create ripples that disrupt other important parts of our lives – our health, work, and kids. You're here because you’re wanting change. I'm here to provide a safe space for your journey to change.

I can support in various concerns including: trauma, abuse, neglect, attachment challenges and other mental health concerns, as well as family related issues, divorce or separation, and grief and loss.
I am honoured to support people in finding their path to healing. I believe that we have our own capacity to move through difficult times and know that taking this step can be pretty tricky. My approach is gentle and fairly eclectic, I tend to use the modality that best suits the clients needs with an attachment based lens. I tend to focus on play therapy and emotion focused therapies with children as well as utilize some dyad work. With adults I tend to use EMDR, trauma processing, solution focused therapy, person centred and emotion focussed therapy modalities. I offer a free 15 minute consultation to ensure I am the right fit.

That is why I am here to not just support your child as they building their eating and feeding skills but to support you as a family unit as you reconnect with each other and with mealtimes.
Food is so much more than fuel. Food is a way we express love, appreciation, and empathy. Food provides comfort and sparks conversation. It ties us to our memories, our cultures, and our family. So, when we are struggling with eating, we are missing out on more than nutrients, we are missing out on opportunities for connection. This connection goes both ways. When our child is struggling to eat, we as a family are missing out on the opportunity to connect and enjoy each other. My role is to support you and your family regain this connection through psychotherapy and feeding therapy.

Family Therapy Counsellors

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
