Alberta Trauma Services provides treatment and support services to those who have incurred Traumatic Psychological Injuries (TPI) and their associated challenges. People who attend our clinic are experiencing trauma symptoms that are severe enough to cause significant impairment in occupational, vocational, cognitive, family, social functioning, and activities of daily living. We know from research and evidence-based best practices that psychology, biology, supports, and our life experiences all have a part to play in Traumatic Psychological Injuries. We developed our services from the belief that with an experienced team, following evidence-based best practices, trauma and stress-related challenges are treatable. Over the years, we have seen many of our clients grow from severe symptoms to having a better and more fulfilled life. We view trauma as similar to a physical injury. Like a physical injury, trauma requires assessment (ex: x-ray), treatment (re-aligned and placed in a cast), the hard work to gain functionality (ex: physiotherapy) and most importantly time for all parts to heal. Like a broken arm, when it has healed it is actually stronger than before.
