You? You constantly find yourself replaying memories of the painful things your parents or partners have said or done to you in the past. You likely harbor resentment and fantasize about telling them just how much they hurt you. Often, you get lost in the "why" and "what if," struggling deep down with anxiety and never feeling good enough. When it comes to your relationships, you're likely always there for others, caring for them how you wish someone cared for you. But this also leaves you exhausted, always being the dependable one, and tirelessly seeking validation and to be seen as loveable.

My clients are just like you - to the outsider they appear like they have it all together. But on the inside something feels stuck, or at least worth exploring. I believe we are all trying our best to navigate the journey of life with the only strategies we know. Sometimes those ways work well for us, and other times they don’t. I am passionate about issues surrounding parenting, life transitions, emotional intelligence, vocation and purpose, and coping mechanisms. I particularly enjoy being a listening ear for fellow dads who try everyday to be the best dad they can be.

Are you trying to get back with your girlfriend? Did you do something that got you dumped, and you don't know why you did it? Did you do everything for her and got nothing back? Or are you in a relationship and can't decide whether to leave or not. What happened to my sexual desire? Is she hot enough? Am I happy where I am now? I'm young, and I want to have more sex. Do I watch too much porn? What should I do? Are you also lost in life? You want to have a meaningful career, doing the things you love, but why can't I get out off the couch?

If you've experienced sexual abuse (rape, childhood sexual abuse, harassment) it's likely you noticed changes in how you think, feel and act. Maybe you believe that you deserve what happened or that you should have done something to stop it. You may see the world as a dangerous place and people as untrustworthy. You're likely on edge, hypervigilant and feel out of control of your emotions - or maybe you don't feel them at all. You can't sleep, relationships are difficult, you feel haunted by your memories, sex and intimacy aren't as they used to be, and it feels like nothing you've tried works. I get it and I want to help you heal.

My ideal client is someone who has experienced the depth of life's challenges, perhaps grappling with Trauma, PTSD, Grief, or Relationship Issues. They could be facing anxieties, behavioral concerns, or family conflicts stemming from diverse issues. These challenges have shaped them, but they haven’t defined them. Their goal? To find clarity, healing, and empowerment. They seek a therapeutic space that is both culturally sensitive and technically adept. They want to be seen, heard, and understood. They yearn for resilience, growth, and a renewed sense of purpose.

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimising its ability to trigger anxiety.
