Hello. I am a licensed clinical social worker dual licensed in Minnesota and Wisconsin with over 30 years of work experience in the medical and mental health fields. I strive to help clients develop healthy coping strategies to navigate life struggles. I have a direct but compassionate style, while providing a non-judgmental environment with a strength based and collaborative approach. I have experience helping clients through a wide range of mental health concerns including; depression, anxiety, PTSD, trauma, grief& loss, health anxiety and life transitions.

I have experience working with adolescents, adults, and couples who are dealing with trauma and different life stressors. All clients present with different strengths and struggles so I know that no single approach will fit for every individual. My passion is in being able to bring clients an experience in therapy where they find empowerment, healthier perceptions of themselves and ability to strengthen relationships. I have been trained in Gottman method, emotionally focused therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing).

I enjoy working with people to create a nonjudgmental space that is tailored to their needs and goals. My view is that we are connected internally and externally in a web of different systems that impact us, and through understanding how these systems and the client are affecting one another do we get a comprehensive view of what’s going on. When appropriate and agreed upon, I will work with people in these different systems (e.g., family, loved ones, teachers, primary care providers, social workers, parole officers, etc.) to help provide continuity of care and a cohesive treatment plan.

Growing up in a small, midwestern town, I came to realize that we don't get nearly enough information on how to properly engage with one another in our relationships in healthy and fulfilling ways. As a queer and trans person, the lack of information was exponentially worse. As a therapist, I want to be there for people who recognize this and want to have better relationships with others and with themselves. I also want to be there especially for my fellow queer and transgender people given how lonely I felt thinking that there were no therapists like me. While I didn't get that, I want to BE that for others.
