Over the years we have both made some bad mistakes and have hurt each other. Now, we hardly talk and when we do it becomes an argument, we say a lot of hurtful things to each other. In our last argument, things got really out of hand, and he left the house, slamming the door, and hasn't been back home since. I have been crying since last night. I frequently have clients that meet with me to “fix them,” to control their anxiety or depression. But I don’t “fix” people and I would beware of any therapist that states they can “cure” a client. Also, we don’t have the ability to control our emotions. However, I provide guidance for my clients to learn to accept things they cannot change. Our bodies, our minds are not machines, but our brain is a complex organ.
