I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Texas. I have 5 years experience serving children, adolescents, families, and veterans through individual or group therapy who are dealing with issues that affect their mental health and well-being. More specifically, addressing a variety of mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, substance abuse, and personality disorders. My counseling philosophy includes Rational Emotive Behavior and Choice Reality Therapy, placing emphasis on reshaping core beliefs in those individuals experiencing a variety of mental health conditions,

My passion for counseling was rooted in my experience with at risk youth from my childhood to my career in education. I saw the importance of being seen and heard and addressing the individual's needs to attain success versus expecting rote societal compliance. Transitioning to being a therapist from a school based educator was a direct response to understanding that we must first address our lived experience and individual needs to see how that informs our present circumstances and future goals; so that we can achieve our goals while also having autonomy regarding the pathway we choose to get there.

I can work with children and adolescents, as well as adults, with learning disabilities and ADHD, and help you obtain healthy coping strategies, emotional regulation and social skills. Welcome! I am so glad you found me. Fostering a safe place to share and express yourself is very important to me. I am a highly trained therapist who works with children and adolescents ages 3-18 as well as young adults and parents. I received my undergraduate degree from Dallas Baptist University and my Masters in Counseling from the University of North Texas. I have also worked with foster and adoptive children and their families and I am trauma informed as well as having experience in education. I create an open environment with positive regard for my clients without judgment of the circumstances they find themselves in.

Most people that enter therapy are stuck...whether it's in relationship conflicts, depressive cycles or life ruts. What helps to get 'unstuck' is a different view and new interactions. I believe all people and situations can change if you want them too. I work well with motivated and dedicated people and help you to find new solutions to your daily problems and conflicts. I am a very interactive, directive, and coaching based therapist who believes that without the skills necessary, the problems interactions will remain the same.

SEX is an essential part of life affecting the mind, body and spirit. With CAYA, one will receive psychotherapy from a clinically trained sex therapist whom is able to treat a myriad of sexual health issues.
