My passion is treating clients who have endured trauma. I'm trained in EMDR. I combine EMDR with narrative therapy to help clients resolve and reprocess the traumatic event. I love working with clients who suffer from depression, bipolar, and personality disorders. I also work with couples and families who are in crisis. I am also endorsed by the American Psychotherapy Association as a Board Certified Professional Counselor.

I am passionate about my work, and I particularly enjoy working with couples. Relationships shape the human experience, and I engage with couples and individuals within the context of their own personal and family histories, helping unlock their potential for intimacy and fulfillment. Additionally, I have expertise in working with adolescents, individually or within their family system, facilitating the process of developing independence, coping skills and positive sense of personal identity.

With over 20 years of professional experience and after years of private practice, I left the therapy world when I discovered the opportunity to advocate for individual and families. As a Therapeutic Consultant, my primary goal was to help individuals find the best fit for interventions for mental and physical health care. I soon discovered that the best fit can't happen without good diagnostics first. A team approach is the heart of our program, uncovering what is truly wrong, or right, about your body, mind, spirit, and lifestyle. Drawing on a desire to help people overcome obstacles in their personal relationships, my professional work involves counseling individuals and families in order to achieve conflict resolution and better communication. As a neutral third party, I am better able to identify the challenges my patients face and facilitate positive change. Working with families, it is essential to foster a high level of trust between the therapist and family members. Mutual respect and open communication are essential to the therapeutic process. Engaging patients at their level, I help people find the change that they desire and the strength within themselves to achieve that change.

My overall goal of therapy is holding you accountable in a nonjudgmental way that supports your goals, validates your efforts, and challenges you in a way that aligns with your worldview. I like to offer feedback in an objective way and suggest skills and perspectives that you choose whether or not to implement. The methodology of my approach is conversation; two people in a room trying to figure things out while utilizing various perspectives, theories, and attempts. An emphasis of my time with you is always you; your goals, thoughts, emotions, and beliefs are valuable and I find exploring them in a therapeutic setting helpful.

As a psychologist with over 30 years experience, I have particular interest in working with individuals with mood disorders, anxiety disorders, college and work stress, phase of life issues, gay/lesbian struggles, marital/divorce problems and general relationship issues.
