My ideal client are individuals who are in current crisis situations or fear entering one in the near future and are looking to improve their quality of life through positive reinforcement and emotional outlets. I primarily work in individual counseling. I am bilingual in Spanish and English and I come from a multicultural background. Whether it is PTSD, relationship problems, or depression, I am ready and willing to help you and adapt to your needs.

Handspring is a modern mental health clinic that provides personalized, evidence-based behavioral care for children, adolescents, and young adults. We currently serve children ages 10-18 and young adults ages 18-24 who are looking for treatment for anxiety, depression, or behavioral difficulties. Our therapeutic approaches include CBT, DBT, organizational skills training, behavior therapy, exposure & response prevention, and parent management training.

As we journey through life's stages, we encounter peaks, valleys and adverse circumstances that will throw us off course. Choosing the high road can be difficult especially when we are stressed, anxious, facing relational problems, parenting problems and difficulties on the workplace. I will teach you coping skills to deal with these unforeseen situations and even with those that are most anticipated. I subscribe to a proactive approach to therapy; focusing on the individual's strengths, without neglecting practical and real issues of human frailties.

In my journey as an MFT I’ve come to see people as experts of their own lives. I have expertise, but do not assume to be the expert of the lives of others. I listen to the stories you tell about your experiences and I seek to find how the different systems in your life (work, family, relationships, communities, etc.) affect each other and the troubles you may see me about. Within this, I also seek to find the strengths you bring to the table when facing your troubles. It may not always be obvious, but people tend to have strengths that they may not realize. I like to bring them to your attention and remind you they are there.

As a therapist I work with the adult population with a focus on trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, and interpersonal issues but treatment will always be tailored to your specific needs as I don’t believe in therapy as a one size fits all model. I pride myself on being a compassionate active listener offering a space where you can safely explore your thoughts and feelings from a nonjudgmental and unbiased perspective. If you’re experiencing ruminating thoughts or you feel as though you are caught in a repetitive cycle, it’s a privilege for me to be able to help you work through those moments in life where you may be feeling stuck.

Lisa Wilkinson is a LMHC with Footprints which was started by a therapist who realized that often times the services provided to low socio-economic communities is lacking quality care. We noticed these communities were confronted with long wait times, disrespectful admins, and subpar treatment. The one and only purpose was to exploit the community for profit without providing the level of care deserved. We began from the inspiration to provide quality mental health care to the poorest of communities and treating the clients of this community the same way a rich patient would be treated in a clinic treating affluent clients.
