As a client-centered, compassionate and collaborative therapist, my treatment approach focuses on the individual needs of my clients to help them reach their goals. I help adolescents, adults and families discover their strengths, gain perspective, and address their current challenges and long-standing issues. I use a selection of styles and techniques to incorporate what is most helpful for each client. Play therapy is the approach I use when working with early adolescents.

While I've worked with a wide spectrum of clients over the years the best fit client in my practice is a person between 0-25 who has difficulty with anxiety and/or relationships whether that is family or intimate in nature. Goals related to these difficulties are often managing anxiety, increasing coping skills, improving family relationships, and processing trauma if present. I have training in Theraplay which is an attachment focused modality which engages both child and caregiver to increase secure attachment which in turn decreases undesirable behaviors. Additionally, I am trained in EMDR.

It is often difficult to explain exactly what therapy is and to best describe a therapist's approach. I like to think of therapy as looking at what has scraped you up emotionally, cleaning out that wound, and then healing so you can live a healthier and happier life. I have been fortunate enough to come alongside children, adolescents, and adults, and help them through a variety of difficulties ranging from depression and anxiety to experiences with trauma, and more. My specialty ages range from elementary children to those in young adulthood.

As a supervisee actively pursuing licensure for LMFT and RPT, I am passionate about utilizing play therapy techniques to promote growth for all children. As a certified eating disorders specialist (CEDS) candidate I work with children to adults in the recovery process because recovery is possible. I am passionate and committed to serving children ages 4-12 experiencing a variety of mental health needs. My goal is to help children and their parents make connections between difficult behaviors and their underlying causes, and help them implement interventions that fit and work well for the family. I have over 30 years of experience in working with individuals, couples, and families (children, adolescents and adults). I have also provided counseling and education to healthcare professionals, legal professionals, athletes, educational organizations, workplace environments, and community groups.

Erin Meyer MS, NCC, LPC-MH, LAC and QMHP provides mental health and chemical dependency counseling services to individuals, couples and families. Erin focuses on providing high-quality counseling services in Sioux Falls, SD and the surrounding area in counseling children, adolescents and adults with a variety of issues. She uses a multitude of interventions including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in a positive, solution-focused fashion to help learn to solve their problems. I am also trained in EMDR and am certified in Postpartum mental health.

I received my degree in Counseling and Psychology in Education and am a Licensed Professional Counselor-MH. I have worked with children and adolescents in individual, group and family settings for the past 24+ years. Special areas of interest include working with children and adolescents in areas related to: abuse issues, trauma, evaluations and therapy for children with sexualized behaviors, grief and loss, depression, anxiety, divorce issues, behavioral issues and adjustment issues.
