Hearing people's stories is what I truly love to do. That is why I became a counselor. That is what I would want to spend my time doing even if it wasn't my career. Human beings are complex, that is true. And we are beautiful in endless ways, good when all is stripped away, and valuable beyond anything else in all of creation. To know and be known is one of the sweetest experiences of life. Along with being loved and securely belonging to other human beings. I hope my work gives these kind of gifts.

I believe people seek out therapy because they are in need of non-judgement and unconditional positive regard, whatever it is that is causing suffering. I approach all of my sessions this way. So many of us are experiencing burn-out, depression, anxiety, even post-partum and find ourselves feeling alone despite the circle of friends and family surrounding us. That is where I come in. I am here to listen and support you in achieving whatever your goals are and I am always open to feedback as I know that people need to be heard and each person requires a different approach.

Does low mood and emotion seem to dictate more of your life than you would like? Finding meaning in todays commodified society can be a monumental challenge. Especially if we see ourselves repeating the same unsuccessful patterns in our lives. Together we can focus on you, and what it is exactly that might lead you towards a sense of yourself that feels more whole.

"Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing there is a field. I’ll meet you there." - Rumi. It's by looking at what is behind our emotions and choices, that leads to freedom. When we understand what drives us in unhelpful ways, we have a choice. By engaging our lives in meaningful ways through self-expression and creativity, we find our voice and authenticity. We'll unpack those unhealed places so they no longer control our actions and beliefs. Together we can help you feel seen, valued, heard, and accepted, which is so often at the heart of inner and outer conflict.

Psychodynamic Therapists

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?

Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?

Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?

Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
