I tend to rely on existential, psychodynamic, and cognitive behavioral approaches, depending on the needs of the client.
I believe people have an incredible potential for strength, although at times the right kind of support is needed to tap into that potential. Life will inevitably have all sorts of challenges, and as such I offer assistance in navigating those more difficult moments. My approach emphasizes a constructive collaboration between therapist and client, in which we will together establish and find ways to reach personal milestones, while exploring your core beliefs. Conversations will be largely purposed to increase insight, coping, and a sense of empowerment by being in touch with one's own values.

I provide psychodynamic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis for adults and adolescents who suffer from a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, and eating disorders.
Searching for a therapist takes courage. Finding the right fit takes often some work and a bit of luck. However, when the relationship between the patient and therapist goes well, the results can be life-changing. Therapy can empower people to see themselves and others more clearly. This can lead to deepened relationships, symptom relief, and a more hopeful outlook.

I have worked with individuals, couples and families for over 25 years in the same location. My approach is based upon your needs, but clinically speaking, I have a cognitive-behavioral orientation and family systems perspective. Most of my day I am helping people deal better with their anxiety and stress, sadness, grief, anger, work issues and relationships. I am teaching coping skills, and helping people become better versions of themselves. I generally treat persons individually from the ages of 18-up. Couples counseling is also an area of great interest and experience for me.

“Change is inevitable but personal growth is a choice. ” ― B. Proctor. This quote captures the essences of life. Sometimes life presents difficult circumstances and suddenly things began to feel unmanageable. It's a natural human response to figure out ways to cope because nobody wants to feel discomfort. What do you do to avoid or distract from life's stressors? We all have a choice. My purpose is to support your personal growth and uncover any beliefs systems that have created limitations in your life. The time is NOW to seek support. Experiencing freedom is within your reach.

Life is a balance of holding on and letting go. We all experience times in our lives when we feel a bit out of balance. Whether it's in our relationships, work life, or general well-being, balance is essential for fulfillment and happiness. Anxiety, depression, anger, conflict, stress and other self-defeating issues create imbalances. Therapy helps to restore, and many times creates, the balance that is needed in all of our lives.

As a clinician, I am an avid believer that often times, my clients already possess all the tools needed to facilitate the change they are looking for within their lives, however, may be lacking the proper environment needed to process and achieve this. I provide my clients the space to gain clarity and understanding of the things they are in search for, as well as aid them in obtaining the things they hope to achieve and/or change within their lifestyle.

We live in a time where we are being pushed beyond our limits, especially now with covid-19. Everyone is experiencing pressure as it relates to their finances, their families, employment and school. Due to the impact of these stressful situations, many people need guidance to find solutions to make their lives less overwhelming. I attempt to provide a warm, supportive environment for my clients.I am successful in forming positive relationships with adolescents, adults and families. In therapy sessions, I tend to use a goal oriented approach so my clients can leave feeling confident that they can handle all that life brings their way.

Making time for yourself can sometimes feel difficult. Prioritizing your mind, feelings, needs, relationship with self, might feel foreign to you. But it shouldn’t. Let your voice and mental health become the priority in your life. In the hour you spend in therapy, it’s an hour that is devoted to meeting your needs to help you grow, connect, and heal.

Psychodynamic Therapists

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?

Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?

Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?

Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
