I enjoy working with clients ages 4+, from all backgrounds, focusing on children, teens who are opposed to mental health treatment (as well as the agreeable ones), and families. Some of the diagnoses I work with are Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, PTSD, Bipolar Disorders, ADHD, and Borderline Personality Disorder. I am comfortable working with talkative clients, clients who are reserved and withdrawn, and those who do not talk much at all. Shawnta earned her Bachelor of Social work from Wichita State University & her Master of Social Work from Indiana Wesleyan University. For more than 10 years she has worked with individuals from various backgrounds & in various settings including schools, long term care, acute inpatient geriatric psychiatric care, middle aged adults, & adolescents. Shawnta has received training in Trauma Informed Care, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, & Motivational Interviewing. She is the founder of The A.R.T. Project, LLC which is geared towards suicide prevention & mental health awareness with the use of self-created art & therapy.
