Patti has had the privilege of counseling since the early 90s. She views the study of psychology as another venue for the general revelation of God. However, she considers His special revelation, the Word of God written in the Bible, to be divinely inspired truth through which all general revelation must be filtered. Therefore, in her approach to counseling, she attempts to use Scripture as the primary lens and psychology as a secondary lens for her theoretical formulation. Since man does not address his trials in isolation, she tends to be holistic in her approach to counseling by integrating all factors, which impact functioning.
Patti counsels from a wholly Christian perspective. Believing God defines human flourishing, she works together with clients to explore tendencies to miss God's grace-filled and restful path He desires. All areas of functioning are considered: affective, behavioral, cognitive, spiritual, contextual, physical, volitional and one's God-given personality .
No one likes the humbling experience of disclosing to a stranger our struggles with fears, with painful relationships, with on-going stressors, with past hurts, with mistakes, with our own thought lives, with looming doubts about God or really, with anything.
