Sometimes we have difficulty coping with life’s negative experiences and trauma such as loss, relationship conflict, or anxiety and depression. We cannot always prevent such things, but we can learn how to manage and overcome them.

I practice person-centered, strength-based approaches, cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, and trauma-informed care.
Often wonder about your purpose? Have you experienced outcomes in life that have not aligned with who you are? Are obstacles blocking your pathway? Do you need to express your thoughts, feelings, and emotional experiences -freely without fear of judgment? My strength is viewing individuals openly, and working collaboratively towards finding joy, discovering and honoring your unique true self. New experiences can bring challenges however, with that comes the chance for open opportunities to illuminate self-empowerment and create the life you deserve.

I enjoy working with people of all ages who are experiencing "life" & the stressors that come with it. Especially the older teen, young adult, Gen X & Millenials - life is a journey that none of us are particularly prepared for & there comes a time when a caring ear & an outside professional perspective can truly help. life happens - its how we cope with it that matters most! i work with common issues such as relationship stressors, family conflicts, school life issues, life changes, life planning, behavioral challenges, parenting stressors as well as adults struggling with career issues and in need of basic life coaching.

I work mostly with women who experience issues such as anxiety, depression, anger, rage, feeling overstimulated and overwhelmed. I also assist people struggling with depression and anxiety related to everyday life issues. I am trained in EMDR which reduces negative emotion associated with trauma. Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing has drastically changed how I approach trauma and has made a world of difference for the people I work with. Most of the people I work with need validation, insight and support and sometimes struggle with reaching out for help.

Many of my clients are Law Enforcement, First Responders, Active Military, and Veterans who have been reluctant to begin therapy. My areas of specialty are anxiety & depression, trauma, alcohol/substance use, dual-diagnosis, and addressing the issues that result from these problems such as interpersonal and relationship issues, self esteem issues, and overall poor coping skills. When clients reach out to me, whether through email or voicemail, I make every attempt to return the correspondence. I want my clients to feel heard and that begins at the initial outreach. Please leave me a message, I'll respond at my earliest convenience.

The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are. -Carl Yung It is hard when you're told by other people you have so much in life to happy about, but you can't really feel it for yourself. Laying in bed often wondering, "Could I do more?", "Am I enough?", and "Why does it seem like I am missing something?". Asking yourself about these kinds of things are actually brave and courageous thoughts! Many times we feel alone or are afraid to share what we think and feel because no-one wants to be judged or ridiculed. To trust someone with our inner most thoughts and feelings, must be respected and protected.

Are you an adoptee that has experienced change or transitions in your life? Do you prematurely end a relationship before you get left? This is a trauma response due to attachment issues which are common with adoptees. Most adoptees crave a secure attachment. Unresolved trauma wrecks havoc on our ability to give, receive love. Learning to understand and unravel where this comes from can help you make progress toward not avoiding these uncomfortable thoughts.

People are thinking, feeling, moving, relational, and spiritual beings. If one of these areas becomes disrupted it has an impact on all areas. In this view, therapy is an opportunity to bring air to the patterns and conditions we experience in a supportive way. My approach to therapy combines integrative and person-centered approaches -- via the relationship between the mind and body.

Strength-Based Therapists

How does strength-based therapy work?

During strength-based therapy sessions, the therapist will ask about an individual’s experiences of stress, pain, or trauma with the goal of orienting the client to view themselves as a survivor rather than a victim, and focusing on their strengths rather than on their weaknesses. In framing a client’s personal narrative along these lines, the therapist and client work together to identify existing skills that can be harnessed.

Is strength-based therapy evidence-based?

Strength-based therapy is an evidence-based treatment that has been studied extensively and shown to be effective across domains. The treatment has been found to be particularly effective in helping individuals who are experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, and other mental health concerns. Strength-based therapy has been used by therapists to help clients for more than 60 years.

How long does strength-based therapy last?

There’s no precise timeline for strength-based therapy. The duration of treatment depends on the individual’s specific needs and goals and the severity of their concerns. Some individuals may find they achieve their therapeutic goals quickly, while others might benefit from ongoing support and guidance in order to continue progressing.

How effective is strength-based therapy?

Clinical research and decades of practice have shown strength-based therapy to be an effective treatment to improve mental health and well-being for many conditions. The treatment can engender a sense of connection and collaboration between the therapist and the individual, fostering a positive therapeutic relationship. For individuals with narcissistic tendencies, strength-based therapy may be less effective, as the focus on the individual’s strengths may undermine the work needed to honestly assess the challenges the individual faces.
