One of the hardest things for many individuals is to make the decision to seek therapy. As a Licensed Mental Heath Counselor/Therapist it is a privilege to be afforded the opportunity to be a part of someone's process as he or she starts to break free from some of the limitations imposed on them by their own past, or the pain of their early relationships and experiences, to find their way, uncover their goals, and start to reveal who they really are. it is honestly one of the most rewarding reasons I am committed to the process of change produced through therapy.

Stress comes in many shades, regardless of what we face, with no discrepancies of importance, changing how we feel begins with changing our perspective. I aim to guide you through these life challenges and rebuild the mindset that these negative encounters have influenced.

You deserve a life of happiness, abundance, and peace! Many people see therapy as that one-sided conversation laying on that stereotypical couch we see in movies. Therapy doesn't have to be a painful or intimidating thing! My goal is to help you be the version of you that YOU want. You are capable of achieving whatever solutions and life changes you are looking for while enjoying the process and experiencing yourself in new ways.

I engage in a strength-based, client focused method of therapy.
I have been working with individuals who experience family conflicts, behavioral issues, parenting concerns, substance use, infertility issues, and more, for the past 10 years. I previously worked for Child Protective Services for 8 years and have knowledge of child abuse and neglect concerns, court matters, and custody issues. I worked with an intensive family program (HCBS Waiver) that focused on youths with severe emotional and behavioral issues for 5 years. I also have a Masters Degree in School Counseling, which has given me vast knowledge in CSE proceedings, educational laws, and academic requirements.

I believe that therapy shouldn’t be another stressor, or another “to-do” on someone’s already extensive list. My aim is to make the experience of therapy as comfortable as possible through sliding scale options, extended evening hours, and a flexible approach to modalities.

As a therapist, I aim to create a space where clients have the opportunity to be vulnerable, grow, and feel empowered while working toward their life goals and developing new skill sets. Thoughts and emotions can be so powerful, but they can lead us to feeling stuck, lost, confused, dread, or even exhausted. We isolate, panic, feel unseen, and feel unheard, and become irritated because we don’t have the words. If this is something you can relate to, my name is Lauren and welcome to my page. I am so excited you have decided to invest in yourself!

Strength-Based Therapists

How does strength-based therapy work?

During strength-based therapy sessions, the therapist will ask about an individual’s experiences of stress, pain, or trauma with the goal of orienting the client to view themselves as a survivor rather than a victim, and focusing on their strengths rather than on their weaknesses. In framing a client’s personal narrative along these lines, the therapist and client work together to identify existing skills that can be harnessed.

Is strength-based therapy evidence-based?

Strength-based therapy is an evidence-based treatment that has been studied extensively and shown to be effective across domains. The treatment has been found to be particularly effective in helping individuals who are experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, and other mental health concerns. Strength-based therapy has been used by therapists to help clients for more than 60 years.

How long does strength-based therapy last?

There’s no precise timeline for strength-based therapy. The duration of treatment depends on the individual’s specific needs and goals and the severity of their concerns. Some individuals may find they achieve their therapeutic goals quickly, while others might benefit from ongoing support and guidance in order to continue progressing.

How effective is strength-based therapy?

Clinical research and decades of practice have shown strength-based therapy to be an effective treatment to improve mental health and well-being for many conditions. The treatment can engender a sense of connection and collaboration between the therapist and the individual, fostering a positive therapeutic relationship. For individuals with narcissistic tendencies, strength-based therapy may be less effective, as the focus on the individual’s strengths may undermine the work needed to honestly assess the challenges the individual faces.
