Rize-Up Together was started by three women of The Bronx who realized that often times the services provided to low socio-economic communities is lacking quality care. We noticed these communities where confronted with long wait times, disrespectful admins, and subpar treatment. The one and only purpose was to exploit the community for profit without providing the level of care deserved. Rize-Up Together began from the inspiration to provide quality mental health care to the poorest of communities and treating the clients of this community the same way a rich patient would be treated in a clinic treating affluent clients.

My goal is to guide clients through self-exploration, self-awareness and resilience building that transforms them into self-reliant individuals. I integrate psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral (CBT), DBT, relational, and mindfulness-based techniques tailored to specific needs. The therapeutic relationship is a partnership explored within a safe, non-judgmental environment, working at a pace that is comfortable for the client; we can explore short or long-term counseling. Together, we can work towards resolving feelings of sadness, anxiety, and understanding maladaptive patterns, gaining insight to change problematic behaviors

Our goal is to provide guidance and support for individuals to reach their goals by helping them manage their thoughts and emotions. The therapeutic relationship is essential for a strong counseling alliance. Our role in a therapeutic relationship is to form a dialogue, where I am a nonjudgmental helper rather than an expert. With over 15 years’ experience as a bilingual Psychotherapist working with very diverse populations from adults to adolescents who experience depression, anxiety, trauma and PTSD I learned that not everyone feels comfortable going to speak to a therapist in a traditional setting like an office. This is why I offer “Walk Talk Therapy” and mobile therapy. I want to eliminate as many barriers as possible for you to get the help you need. Just as we are all encouraged to exercise for our physical health, I believe everyone should connect with a professional therapist to strengthen one’s emotional health.

To be the best versions of ourselves we have to examine who we are, where we have been, and our relationships with others and our environments. My passion is helping adults, adolescents, and children to improve their emotional awareness in an effort to increase their well-being, relationships, self-worth, mindset, and open opportunities so you can reach your highest potential. I use a variety of different evidence based therapy methods to help patients access their potential starting with a patient-centered/strengths-based approach. Working collaboratively with you is essential to the way I practice psychotherapy.

As a lifelong learner, I follow my intuition and beliefs. I have a bachelor’s degree in philosophy that provides an in-depth understanding of humanity and the evolution of ideas. I also graduated in social communications and journalism that informs my desire and efforts to be a strong advocate for social justice. I have employment experience as both a teacher of philosophy and a reporter. I moved to New York to experience the city’s diverse social and cultural movements and to further develop my own personal self-understanding. To fulfill this goal, I graduated in a master’s degree in social work, with a major in psychotherapy.

Are you feeling overwhelmed, judged, exhausted? Do you feel like you are walking on eggshells? Misunderstood? Traumatized? Sometimes we just need a listening ear to talk to about our day to day. Attachment histories may have impacted us in ways that make it difficult to trust. We will overcome obstacles through a relational and psychoanalytic lens to uncover what is beneath our frustration with daily life struggles.

Today, life often presents us with an unsettling tension between overwhelming uncertainty or loss, and a relentless demand to be productive, happy, and to have a strong sense of identity or purpose. Whether one is exploring psychotherapy due to crisis, impasse, troubling symptoms, or relational concerns, all people can benefit from a space where they can make meaning of their experiences and thoughts in a collaborative way. Though psychodynamic treatment requires vulnerability and curiosity, it is an opportunity for transformative self-exploration and healing that will be contained in a space of attentive listening and care.

Despite our best efforts to change, obstacles can be terribly difficult to overcome in isolation; I am dedicated to creating a safe space in which we can explore the thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and relational patterns that may be causing you to feel stuck. I work with young adults on the various challenges that arise when transitioning into adulthood, including creating healthy romantic/peer relationships, early career development, and challenging family dynamics. I have experience supporting individuals in exploring their gender, sexual, and romantic identity development, and welcome members of the LGBTQQIA+ community.

I work best with people who want to change their lives but feel stuck, confused and paralyzed by fear and anxiety. They feel dishonest with themselves and frustrated for giving up on their true desires. However, deep inside they know they can do better. This struggle is their most intimate enemy. They feel alienated and unhappy sometimes in their relationships, work, profession, and in their daily lives in general. I help them to feel more confident about themselves, motivated to take control over their lives and to make the changes they want to make.

Online Therapists

Is online therapy as effective as in-person?

Numerous studies suggest that online therapy can be as effective as in-person therapy. However, further research is needed to determine if online therapy provides the same benefits across all client populations. Individuals with severe mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, or those who may benefit from in-person check-ins, like those with eating disorders, may not experience the same level of benefit from online therapy. Nonetheless, the success of online therapy, much like in-person therapy, often hinges on the quality of the therapeutic relationship between the therapist and the client rather than the specific modality of therapy used.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of therapy conducted online?

One of the main advantages of online therapy is its convenience for both clients and therapists. It also allows clients who require specialized therapy to access a wider range of professionals than they could with only in-person sessions. Additionally, online therapy may be a more affordable option in some cases and often offers the same insurance benefits as in-person therapy. However, online therapy may not be suitable for everyone, especially those who value face-to-face interaction with a therapist. Therapists may find it more challenging to assess clients accurately in an online setting due to reduced nonverbal cues on camera. There is also the increased risk that disruptions caused by external factors, such as technology malfunctions, can hinder the therapy session. For these reasons, many therapists offer a "hybrid" therapeutic approach, alternating between seeing clients in-person and online.

Is online therapy suitable for children and adolescents?

Just like with adults, the accessibility and convenience of online therapy can greatly benefit children and adolescents. In fact, children and adolescents may be more accustomed to navigating online platforms than older adults, making online sessions feel more natural for them. Teens might also be interested in using additional online tools, such as therapist-recommended apps, as an adjunct to online therapy sessions. Apps for developing CBT skills, practicing mindfulness exercises, or tracking thoughts and moods can be helpful for teens receiving therapy. However, it's important to note that not all therapeutic modalities are well-suited to online therapy, especially those used with younger children. For example, play therapy, which helps younger children express their emotions, often requires in-person sessions to be fully effective.

Can I receive prescriptions and medication management with online therapy?

The ability for psychiatrists to prescribe medications through online therapy varies based on the medication and the states where the medical professional and client are located. While many prescribing regulations were relaxed during the COVID-19 pandemic, some states still enforce rules, especially concerning controlled substances, which may mandate an in-person visit before prescribing. Generally, however, medical professionals can prescribe non-controlled substances through online therapy sessions just as they do during in-person sessions.
