I have been a social worker for 18 years, working alongside children and families to preserve wholeness and solidity while providing coping skills, intervention, and case management. I believe for every storm in our life, there is a bright rainbow at the end. Sometimes, we need a nonjudgmental person to lend an ear while discussing our past traumas, hurt, and issues we have endured. Therapy should be focusing on the healing of the past and moving forward to become the best version of ourselves, find our purpose and live it to the fullest.

TriCare Counseling and Consulting started accepting clients in 2010 as a practice that partners with professionals to form a caring team dedicated to improving the qualify of life for children, adolescents, and adults who deal with mental health disorders. Our therapists are available for individual, couples, and family therapy. We have a culturally competent staff and have had great success working with clients regardless of background or lifestyle orientation. We address issues of spirituality, identity formation, and self-actualization. We accept clients ages 4 and up. Psychological Evaluations are available. We have offices in Raleigh, Dunn, and Fayetteville in NC.

I have experience supporting individuals and families with behavioral issues, parenting, emotion regulation, depression, anxiety, self-esteem, and trauma of both children and adults. I have worked in Intensive In-Home and Outpatient Therapy settings. Areas of interest: Trauma, anxiety and depression, life transitions, parenting issues, behavioral issues, and relationship issues. With a primary focus on trauma recovery, my practice serves a broad clientele, addressing a myriad of challenges with an unwavering commitment to healing and growth.

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor, National Certified Counselor, Certified Clinical Military Counselor, and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. I have been trained through UNC TEACCH to work with individuals on the Autism Spectrum. I am trained in EMDR, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Human Givens. I have been trained to work with individuals with ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma, autism, etc. Sessions tend to run 45-53 minutes, once a week. I will provide coping skills, symptom management, and ways to work through the life issues bringing clients in for help.

I bring a unique blend of experiences to my role as a therapist. I’m a former infantry soldier, current U.S. Army Chaplain of 19+ years, and therapist. As a war time veteran, I understand the challenges of navigating through difficult times. It isn’t easy to admit we might need help, that we have fears that no one will understand what we’re experiencing, or if I seek help some people may judge us. If we’re able to get past those initial thoughts of judgment, fear, or vulnerability we may find that there are people out there that will hear us, be with us, and help us during our difficult times. I would like to be that person for you.

As a therapist, my goal is to provide a safe, client-centered environment for my clients to explore their feelings and patterns of thinking while setting and working toward their personal goals. I utilize evidenced-based practices including CBT. I also love to incorporate play and art therapy techniques in my practice with children and adolescents. I am also passionate about teaching clients about brain-based techniques founded on neuroscience to help them better understand how to manage stress. Christian counseling upon request. What thoughts race through your mind as you go through the day? What thoughts have become obstacles? Do those thoughts hold you captive in states of anxiety and depression? Do they make you feel unsafe, insecure, and isolated, even when we are surrounded by others? Do these thoughts make relationships complicated and responsibilities seem impossible? Are your mental and emotional stressors effecting your physical well-being in ways like physical pain, fatigue, sensory intolerance, brain fog, and inability to focus? Exploring your thoughts and feelings can be difficult, but you do not have to walk through this process alone.

I work primarily with adolescents and adults. I have experience working with clients struggling with anxiety, depression, self-esteem and codependency issues, boundaries, grief, and phase of life adjustments. I use an integrative and individualized approach aimed at improving the quality of life of my clients by helping them find balance, learn coping skills, rediscover choice, decrease suffering, heal body image issues, increase self-esteem and create a life worth living. I recently became a certified SYMBIS facilitator. My hope is to work with couples before their wedding day helping them prepare for marriage!
