This is why I use a variety of approaches such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy), Solution Focused Brief Therapy, and Experiential Therapies (Art, Mindfulness, Narrative, DBT, and Gestalt techniques) in my practice.
My name is Ramona Taylor. I am a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist practicing in both Hawaii and California. I specialize in brief therapy and experiential therapies. I approach therapy with the goal that each session is meaningful and that clients are able to experience noticeable changes in a relatively short time. I work with adult individuals who are suffering from depression, relational problems, anxiety, ADHD, and PTSD. Additionally, I am a Christian therapist with additional training to work with individuals who prefer therapy to integrate their Christian perspective.

Do you have the right life partner? Consider the following questions, and if most of your answers are yes, you may want to hold onto and work on that relationship. Which qualities attracted you to your spouse? Do they still have the qualities you found so attractive when you first met? Are they often honest, trustworthy, faithful, supportive and kind? Are they willing to change and grow to meet the dynamics of your relationship? Will divorce harm you or your family? Will staying married have a more harmful effect? How will the divorce affect your family, especially your children?

Life can be quite challenging and stressful, and I want you to know that you're not alone. I've had my own share of challenges and severe hardships, and at times I even felt I had no control over my life. I draw on these experiences as well as my clinical training as I approach each new person to form a potential therapeutic alliance. Whether you are dealing with relationship issues, traumatic experiences, or grief over any sort of loss, I have a good sense of where you're coming from, because I've been there, too.

Self-awareness is as pleasant as a stubbed toe in the middle of the night when you get up for a drink of water. Therapy is the light you turn on that forces your eyes shut for a moment while your eyes adjust to the light and you can open them fully. You then shut the light off, adjust your eyes to the dark, more awake than before, and now make your way through the dark with the ability to avoid stubbing your toe.

I am a trauma-informed licensed psychologist who has trained in cognitive-behavioral, sensorimotor psychotherapy, and relational psychodynamic approaches. As an integrative therapist, I attempt to tailor treatment to each individual's needs using relevant interventions and theories. In working interpersonally and collaboratively, we may explore one's individual history, identities/roles, family and cultural dynamics, strengths, values, and goals. Through individual and couples therapy, I enjoy working with adults who identify feeling stuck, lost, alone, misunderstood, frustrated, anxious, disconnected, indifferent, and depressed.

We all live in a world of stories...The meaning we attach to these stories become a template of how we feel about ourselves. The emotional outcome of this thinking can be depression, anxiety and at other times, happiness. What is the meaning of these stories? I believe facts bring us to knowledge, but stories lead us to wisdom. Therapy is a creative and supportive process of getting to know your true self, of re-authoring the old story and writing a new one. Discover who you are... apart from the problem, and find an unexpected path to build inner strength and resources.

Hi! Welcome to my small online practice, and congratulations on taking the step in looking into therapy - I know it can be challenging! My primary goal is to create a safe, inclusive, and comfortable space where you can be yourself and open up about things that you may be struggling with, or things that are causing you stress. Our sessions will not be a one-sided conversation, nor will they be mundane (trust me!), but rather there will be a lot of conversation and interaction, and together we can work on the things you want to change. I want you to find the peace and healing that you desire.

Hi, I am Jailene, and I support individuals through symptoms of anxiety, depression, life transitions, academic struggles, or recovering from difficult experiences, such as abuse. There are moments where we feel stuck in life personally or professionally. We all deserve to feel heard and supported when feeling low motivation, easily frustrated, our mind racing, uncontrollable worry, negative self-talk, or dissociation.

Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Therapists

How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.

When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behavior through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.

What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviors and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.

Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioral habits.
