I am a licensed graduate professional counselor dedicated to working with clients to support discovering and reauthoring their personal stories when life feels scrambled and out of control. I view difficulties such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and communication issues as symptoms of a root cause. My approach centers on a trauma-informed lens while utilizing an eclectic approach drawing from an internal family systems model, narrative therapy, and cognitive behavioral interventions. I strongly live with a great call to reach beyond self and understand that suffering can be our greatest asset. As a African American, father, son, uncle and brother, from bondage to slavery, the phases of change, bring new hope, change that lasts, forsake old behaviors and do things differently. I am accepting new clients for immediate openings. I specialize in working with women who are feeling stressed out, burned out, hopeless, or overwhelmed; dealing with or recovering from an unhealthy relationship; need help managing adult ADHD; and/or dealing with other life challenges. You don’t have to figure it out alone, I will help you to gain the tools necessary to live the life that you desire. Sometimes just talking with someone, in a non-judgmental setting, can help you begin to release the heaviness and frustration that you might be experiencing.

I am a licensed psychologist with over 25 years of experience. My approach to therapy is eclectic with a focus on developing a strong therapeutic relationship in which the client feels listened to and understood on a deep level with genuine interest and acceptance. I work with IFS informed framework, as well as relaxation and mindfulness practices of awareness and acceptance. I focus on a person's strengths and resiliency to help them achieve the changes they are looking for.

Many of the clients I work with struggle with depression and anxiety, often (but not always) related to a history of trauma. I have found that many clients with a traumatic history have never identified it as such and, therefore, have never considered the long-term effects on their lives (their bodies, their emotions, their relationships). They've often tried (or have been told) to "get over it" or that something was wrong with them. In my experience, it's not about something being "wrong" with you. It's about what has happened to you.

This wellness checklist can be applied to individual growth and healing, and to couples in marriage counseling, pre-marital, or relationship counseling as well. During this process, counseling addresses the symptoms, while therapy addresses the causes.
