Seeking out therapeutic services is healthy for our mind/body/soul connection. Just as we go to the gym to keep our bodies healthy, or puzzles to keep our mind sharp, we go to therapy to keep our connection between our mind/body/soul. Further, relationships are the center of connection: how we relate to others (family, friends, coworkers,) and the relationship we have with ourselves. It is my privilege to sit with you (or your family members) while we navigate the roadblocks and successes that make your life experience uniquely yours. It is my hope that in through this exploration and work, we can improve your relationships.

Dandelions are often considered weeds and a nuisance, but did you know that dandelions are one of the first flowers to pop up after a long winter? They are capable of growing in the most dark and difficult of places with little nourishment. When they are ready to die, they make sure to send their seedlings off in the wind to have a fresh start. We are often like these plants when in need of help. We feel like weeds and bothersome, but when given the opportunity we can be hidden gems waiting to shine. Revitalize yourself!

This is where my creative background in music therapy shines.
Do you feel scared of what you’ll do or say next that could push someone away? Does the endless cycle of should's ever feel oppressive? Are you struggling to believe other people when they say you ARE enough? These are common experiences of those struggling with childhood relational wounds or traumas. I specialize in helping adults navigate these pain points and heal to feel connected once again within themselves and their relationships. You don't need to apologize for who you are anymore. It's going to be okay.

Somatic and Sex Therapist. Now, what I am about to share with you might be uncomfortable to read. If it is, then know this...you did not find us by accident. This was a message you needed. You see, talking to your partner about your sexual relationship isn’t easy. You might feel like no matter what you do, you just can’t seem to connect – unaware of what gets them going and what turns them off. You may be unsatisfied with the type of intimacy you’re having but don’t know how to bring it up. Now, here’s the thing...you are not alone.

Music Therapy

How does music therapy work?

A music therapist will begin by assessing the client’s specific needs and getting a sense of their musical ability and interests. Musical training is not required, and clients of all ages can benefit from this type of therapy. The therapist will then make a plan for how to achieve the client’s therapeutic goal(s) using a range of receptive (e.g., listening to a song) and active (e.g., drumming in a group) music therapy techniques.

What are some common music therapy techniques?

Music therapy usually involves listening to music (either live or recorded). Music therapy clients may also make music on popular instruments, such as the piano, guitar, and hand drum, or sing. Sometimes music therapy can include guided imagery. A music therapist may ask clients to improvise on the spot or even compose their own songs. Dancing or moving to music can be an effective intervention to help clients feel more fully grounded in their bodies and remain in the present moment.

How does music therapy help with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)?

Music therapy can be a valuable creative outlet for clients with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) who have trouble putting their painful feelings into words. Listening to music can be relaxing while making music as part of a group provides plenty of opportunities to connect with other people. In addition to its mood-boosting effects, music therapy can help clients build resilience and overcome PTSD symptoms that may interfere with their daily lives.

How long does music therapy take?

Music therapy sessions generally last between 30 and 50 minutes. They can be scheduled in advance (for example, once a week) or can be done on an as-needed basis. Some clients will only require a handful of music therapy sessions to achieve their goals, while others may need months or longer, depending on their specific concern.
