I am passionate about providing healing and supportive counseling services to my Clients. I provide individual, family, and couples counseling. My focus is on working with people who experience symptoms of PTSD, gender dysphoria, depression, anxiety, LGBT Issues, behavior disorders, and adjustment to life's ever changing stresses. Each person is unique w/ their own individual biology and environmental experiences. Therefore, therapy is individually tailored to each Clients unique circumstances. Dr. Jolene Nichols is a Licensed Clinical Addictions Counselor and specializes in providing high quality individualized outpatient treatment for individuals and/or their families struggling with substance use disorders. Petunia Monchusie, Ph.D., LCAC, LCPC is a Mental Health Professional with a doctors degree focusing on Exercise Psychology and Substance Abuse. She specializes in Substance Abuse and Behavioral Addictions, and Cooccurring disorders. She is also the founder of Healthy Recovery Options- a State Licensed Substance Abuse Outpatient Treatment Facility-which provides Drug and Alcohol Evaluations, DUI classes, Domestic Violence Evaluations, Batterers Intervention Program, all Other Assessments, and Individual, Couples, and Group Psychotherapy. Her international work experiences help her to work with a cultural diverse population 18 years and older.

My ideal client is one who is motivated to work on things that will improve their life and hopes to explore the situations and stresses in life collaboratively. I like to focus on helping people grow through feeling understood and cared for as well as to understand themselves and their relationships more accurately. My experience includes work with a variety of different client experiences, including trauma, relationship struggles, family stress or disfunction, divorce and blended family issues, shared custody/visitation, parent-child relationship, child behavior issues, loss, traumatic injury, terminal illness, aging, and more.

I am passionate about helping people in the process of self-discovery and personal growth. I am particularly skilled in counseling adults and have significant experience helping individuals suffering with trauma, depression, anxiety, codependency, and life transition issues. I also provide care to those experiencing grief and loss that cannot be openly acknowledged. I earned my Master of Arts degree in Counseling from MidAmerica Nazarene University and am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the State of Kansas.

I believe that we all reach places in our lives where we are learning, unlearning and possibly relearning the existential areas of: who am I, what do I want, and what are my barriers & blind spots? Some may need support identifying or answering these questions cause they can be overwhelming. We often develop limitations in efforts to cope with grief, stress, control, hurt & relationships. So do you wonder,"What might be getting in my way or holding me back?", or "What I am avoiding?" or "Do I want to be more effective in my relationship?" I see a wide variety of individual and couples clients who hope to improve their circumstances (ages 15-99). Most of my clients have experienced some form of past hurt or other struggle. I work to manage conflict, disappointment, hurt feelings, sadness, grief, loss, or other strong emotions. My approach is empathic/patient but directive. My strategies are adapted from my experience with trauma (CPTSD), attachment, family dynamics, codependency, toxic shame, grief and loss, parent-child relationships (incl. estrangement), premarital counseling, life transitions. I hope my clients experience peace as a result of our work together!
