I rely on my faith, an integrative education, and continual study of Ericksonian Hypnosis (please ask). My 28yr marriage to Jennifer, who has similar training in marriage & family therapy, and 4 kids--they all add greatly to my knowledge, awareness, and experience. I bring authenticity, humor, and professionalism to my clients. I am laid back and quirky (but in a good way). I am empathetic but also straightforward. I am eclectic in my approach as I have had decades of trainings and experience. Some of the approaches I am familiar with and utilize in sessions are cognitive behavioral, somatic experiencing, internal family systems, emotion focused family therapy, attachment theory, and trauma, and trauma informed care.

My ideal client is someone who wants to actively pursue new paths to find their true, healthy self. Ideally, ready to do the work. I am here to challenge cognitive distortions. I will be a partner in brainstorming issues and goals. Hard work from the client and support from an intuitive counselor will clear the path to the answers within.

I prefer to work with adults and older adolescents struggling with addictions, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and trauma. I have a vast amount of experience working in the field of trauma. Due to my experience working in community mental health, I also work well with those with intense mental health and substance abuse treatment needs. I have worked both inpatient and outpatient experiences, resulting in my flexibility to help stabilize in a crisis and to work with individuals at any level. My ideal client would be someone who is geared towards helping themselves and needing guidance on how to do so. Someone who has a grasp on the importance of the client putting in the work to truly help heal themselves but needing assistance ensuring they are doing things in a healthy and emotionally intelligent fashion. Talk therapy is very important for clients who even just want to come and vent, which I believe helps the mind unclutter.

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Indiana and a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in Kentucky. I specialize in couples' work and sexuality, and also have extensive experience with families, at-risk youth, depression, ADHD and trauma.
