My passion is to see individuals come to the realization that they have the power to enact change to circumstances in their life. My goal is to provide a comfortable environment with a nonjudgemental approach to assess the best interventions to tackle mental health symptoms. I focus on their emotional needs , thinking patterns, and interpersonal relationships that may be impacting functioning in daily life. I work in a collaborative nature with the client to establish their goals and provide guidance in finding solutions.

Empathy, acceptance, and genuineness are three qualities that I believe are the foundation for building a trusting and supportive therapeutic relationship. My areas of specialty are in the treatment of Couples, Women's Health Issues (perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, postpartum, pregnancy loss and infertility), Eating Disorders, Depression, Relationships, Pre-Marital counseling, and Emotional Regulation. In working with complex trauma, the emotional processing, exploration of self-related difficulties (e.g., fear and shame), and acceptance or resolution of past interpersonal issues are an important part of therapy. With complex trauma, I utilize an emotion-focused therapy approach, bringing emotion to the clinical forefront of therapy.

I have been providing psychological and behavioral services in the Chicagoland and Grand Rapids, Michigan area for the last 14 years. In session I am empathetic and positive, working collaboratively with each client, in overcoming life challenges. Due to the vast amount of experience I have gained in both psychotherapy as well as behavioral modification, my therapeutic approach is diverse and can be non-directive, guiding the client at their own pace, or directive in nature. My goal is to assist each client to a happier, healthier, productive life, in a safe environment.

I am a true believer that asking for help in times of need should be a normal part of the life process. Everyone deserves the opportunity to work towards having a better life; the life they want. However, life can put up a lot of barriers. It is my goal as a therapist to be able to help break down barriers with my clients. I pride myself on being a creative, warm, and ‘outside-the-box’ therapist. I think laughter and humor are also important in the therapeutic process as well.
