My therapeutic style consists predominantly of a focus in Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
Do you struggle with symptoms of anxiety or depression? Have you found yourself arguing with loved ones about the same thing over and over again, feeling like a broken record? Are you curious about your own thoughts or behaviors, perhaps wondering if there is a better way to deal with a particular situation in your life? Now more than ever, people are feeling anxious, frustrated, overwhelmed, and unsure about how to navigate the different facets of their lives. While these difficulties can seem relentless, that pain is temporary. You don't have to suffer permanently, with the right approach you can begin to heal sooner than later.

My approach has helped many overcome obstacles and improve their overall quality of life through the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Solution-Focused Therapy.
I believe that every person deserves to be genuinely happy and that no one should face their challenges alone. I am here to provide you with the support and skills you need to manage uncomfortable and unwanted mental health symptoms. While some may imagine their therapy experience to consist of traditional questions such as “how does that make you feel?”, I consider myself more of a modern therapist in which I effectively assist individuals to develop skills and learn tools that help them to manage difficulties in life.

My approach is integrative of many therapeutic models (CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy) and I strive to adapt my approach such that it will best resonate with you and your process.
I am a clinical psychologist with 10+ years of experience. My areas of expertise include depression, anxiety disorders, substance use, acculturation, and relationship/interpersonal difficulties and more. Being an Asian immigrant and having lived in different countries (Hong Kong, Malaysia, England), I understand the struggle of having misaligned values and ideals from the people around us. However, these experiences have also helped me connect with people of different cultures and mentalities, and have helped me to understand how people relate to their own mental health.

Through multiple techniques, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing and Person Centered therapy, I plan to help change the way you think & behave.
Are you looking for a supportive, safe space to process and share your intimate fears, thoughts, and feelings? Have you tried to push through depression, codependency, low self esteem, anxiety or weak interpersonal relationships for a long time? Surrender your old story & become willing to embrace a new one. I’ve struggled with my own mental health. I’ve felt alone, misunderstood and hopeless, and know the value of having had the support of those who believed in me, even when I didn’t believe in myself. Fortunately, there is a way to change patterns by learning to think and feel differently.

Motivational Interviewing Therapists
How does motivational interviewing work?
Motivational interviewing aims to uncover a person’s internal motivation to change their life. Toward this end, the therapist listens, empathizes, and collaborates with the client based on their perspective; the therapist doesn’t adhere to a predetermined plan for change or impose their viewpoint on the client. Discovering an individual’s most important reasons for change, and guiding them to achieve those changes, can empower people to shift from ambivalence to action.
Is motivational interviewing evidence-based?
Yes, research shows that motivational interviewing can help treat alcohol and substance use — and in different ways such as reducing drinking, reducing resistance, and increasing the likelihood of staying in treatment. Motivational interviewing has also been shown to help people lose weight, adhere to medication regimens, improve diet for those with Type II diabetes, and improve healthy behaviors in children.
How long does motivational interviewing last?
Motivational interviewing is a short-term therapy that can last just one or two sessions. In some cases, motivational interviewing may be used in conjunction with longer-term therapies, but for most people, motivational interviewing is a brief intervention that aims to help patients understand their personal, specific, and internal reasons for changing their life.
What differentiates motivational interviewing from person-centered therapy?
In person-centered therapy, the individual is in the driver’s seat of the treatment process, creating space for them to trust their instincts and arrive at their own solutions. The two approaches are similar because motivational interviewing is also client-centered; however, person-centered therapy is more open-ended while motivational interviewing is somewhat more structured; the goal is to change, and the therapist helps the client specifically discover their internal motivations to modify their behavior.
