Luke 11:34-36 "Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are healthy, your whole body also is full of light. But when they are unhealthy, your body also is full of darkness. See to it, then, that the light within you is not darkness. Therefore, if your whole body is full of light, and no part of it dark, it will be just as full of light as when a lamp shines its light on you." The eye is the metaphor for your consciousness and perception of your worldview. Light is associated with hope, guidance, wisdom, truth, clarity, revelation and goodness. The process of therapy will help you discover or again realize your light within!

I work with men and women who struggle in their day to day lives to find joy and peace within their lives. So often we spent our time trying to be the person everyone else expects us to be and yet spend little time discovering and becoming our authentic selves. We all live in a reflective universe which will tell a story of ourselves by the world we create. Learning out true nature which is we are all worthy “NOW” and we all deserve unconditional love and respect. Isn’t it time to discover your true nature of gifts, talents and brilliance and begin to live the life you were meant to discover and enjoy? Take time to invest in self!

I offer short-term, solution-focused therapy. My clients are successful people whom I respect and admire. Like in other areas of their lives when an issue occurs, they want answers and a course of action. Providing for others, they have often put aside their own needs. Their work and personal relationships are intertwined. Talking about how to move forward can be a timeout when one can determine the next steps. Hearing yourself talk aloud about what has been on your mind and heart may give clarity in differentiating between want and need. I encourage clients to gift themselves with time aside.

I think it's important to approach therapy with an open mind. I don't have expectations of clients other than they need and are seeking help. I have a wide variety of skills and don't know what I can help you with until we discuss the issue. At the first session we decide together if our relationship will be effective in helping you solve your problem.

Life can be hard sometimes. We experience things that are often difficult to put into words and shoulder burdens that are much too heavy to bear alone. I want to make the process of counseling approachable and meaningful. Counseling can be thought-provoking, enlightening, and even fun. It is a time for laughing, a time for crying, and a time for expression and reflection. Above all, counseling sessions are YOUR time for which I pledge my undivided attention. You can dump the “pieces of the puzzle” out on the table, and we can figure this out together.

Have you ever wanted to begin counseling, but didn’t feel like your problems were big enough? Or, have you ever ghosted a therapist because you didn’t feel helped? Me too. So, we go it alone - doing everything to change ourselves and our relationships. We continuously find ourselves stuck between what we want to do and what we “should” do. This dilemma often shows up as anxiety, depression, and relationship problems. That’s why it’s my mission to provide approachable counseling that works.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
