I really love working with all different clientele and try to provide a BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ environment.
It takes courage to reach out and I am here to support and empower you. I want to help clients feel more affirmed, heard, and I want to provide a safe and open space to discuss issues. I hope clients leave feeling more encouraged, motivated, and relieved to take on life's issues.

Ashton Marshall is a life motivation coach and mental health advocate representing the LGBTQ+ community.
As a practicing therapist, I aim to provide the mental health support I want for my wife, family, friends, and myself. Therapy that is rooted in love. As a Black Trans-Masculine, I know how hard it can be to understand, love, and believe in yourself when surrounding environments reject uniqueness. Every person and situation is different, but I aim to walk with you as you build the strength and resiliency needed to conquer life’s battles. You should have the privilege of understanding that peace is gained from being resilient and knowing that you have the strength to handle your future and set your standards for happiness.

LGBTQIA, kink, and non-binary welcome! Helping clients move past sexual trauma to find satisfying sex lives is one of my passions. I help my clients understand, love, and appreciate their bodies. Connections are important. I believe part of the issue in today's world is that people feel disconnected and aren't sure how to reconnect. I help with that. I enjoy connecting people, connecting people to resources, connecting pieces of information to create a larger picture, and helping people figure out how to reconnect. I pull from my experiences and knowledge to help others.

LGBT friendly! All clients are welcome to begin their journey to healing.
Life presents us with many challenging events. It can be difficult to maneuver through the maze of life by yourself. I am here to guide you through this journey with an open heart and an open mind. I have created a judgement free environment, so we can explore your feelings of sadness, anxiety, loss, and any other emotions that you are experiencing. I integrate cognitive behavioral and family systems approaches and interventions. I believe a person's experiences are reflective of their family experiences, and that if a person replaces negative behaviors with positive behaviors, they can better their lives.

I specialize in working with folx who experience circumstances surrounding anxiety, depression, freedom of self, life’s adjustments, LGBTQIA+ issues, relationships, stress, and wellness.
Throughout life, we encounter experiences that help shape how we view the world around us, how we view others, and how we view ourselves. Some of these experiences are within our control (self-esteem, career choice, interpersonal relationships, etc), while others are not (microaggressions, social injustice, traumatic experiences, etc). Brevity of the Soul provides a safe space to get to the heart of the matter and unpack the impact that these experiences have on well-being, and explore effective ways to manage ongoing mental, emotional, social, and/or even professional wellness.

I am dedicated to supporting those experiencing anxiety and depression brought on by various life transitions, especially post-partum women, those affected by immigration, and career/life-calling turning points.
If you're seeking a therapist, you're likely looking to make a significant change in your life. As a counselor, my role is to help you see what may be hidden from your current perspective—recognizing patterns in your thinking, addressing the pain from past experiences, and identifying opportunities for strength, resilience, and change. I work with individuals aged 14 and older facing challenges in accepting and being accepted for who they are and where they are in life. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming and polyamory/non-monogamy friendly. I speak Spanish and am happy to serve the Latinx and Hispanic community.

He is LGBTQ+ and multiculturally informed.
Darrin is a licensed associate professional counselor under supervision trained to work with men, women, adolescents, couples and groups requiring professional help. He realizes that life produces internal storm damages occurring far too often without any damage control or prevention. The causes of moodiness, irritability, restlessness, discontentment, fear, doubt, uncertainty, anger, depression, anxiety, insomnia and addiction all have one thing in common - a lack of holistic wellness. Recovery from the internal/external effects of untreated mental and emotional damages is what he will introduce you to.

My areas of specialization include transgenerational/intergenerational trauma, LGBTQIA+ affirming care, alternative relationships, sex work community, anxiety, depression, neurodiversity, young adults and college students.
My therapeutic approach is rooted in the belief that trauma and systemic oppression often impact our ability to connect with ourselves and the community around us. These experiences may leave us in a wake of confusion, anger, and hopelessness. As your therapist, it is my aim to collaborate with you, the expert of your lived experience, in a compassionate and curious environment. Although the journey of self-improvement is complex and vulnerable, it is my privilege to help meet you where you are and hold the space to facilitate personal growth and discovery.

LGBTQ+ Therapists

Do LGBTQ-affirmative therapists receive special training?

Yes. Many therapists who practice LGBTQ-affirmative therapy have completed specialized training, either during their degree program or as continuing education, to learn the core principles of affirmative therapy and how to best support their LGBTQ clients; some have received certifications in LGBTQ-affirmative therapy. Prospective clients should inquire as to a clinician’s background and training to ensure a good fit.

Why might I want to see an LGBTQ-affirming or LGBTQ-friendly therapist?

Queer and gender-non-conforming individuals frequently experience bias and marginalization in day-to-day life. Working with a therapist who understands these unique challenges, as well as accepts and affirms their identity, can help LGBTQ clients feel safe and supported during therapy—allowing them to better navigate their relationships, mental health, and anything else that they wish to explore during therapy. It is important to note that many therapists can be effective in their work with LGBTQ+ individuals, even in the absence of specific training or background knowledge. The most important component in therapy is the alliance between therapist and client, and this alliance can exist between individuals with very different backgrounds.

How can I find an LGBTQ-friendly therapist?

You may wish to inquire about a therapist’s expertise with your specific challenges or concerns—depression, for example, or relationship strife—as well as their past experiences treating LGBTQ+ clients. Prospective clients may also ask whether a therapist has obtained additional training and/or certification in LGBTQ-affirmative techniques.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience with LGBTQ issues?

Prospective clients should feel empowered to directly ask therapists whether they have received training or been certified in LGBTQ-affirming therapy; competent therapists will be happy to explain their educational background and preferred approach(es) to help a client find the best match for them. Clients may also wish to ask how a therapist has treated clients with their particular challenges in the past and what they expect treatment to look like.

Are all the therapists listed in the LGBTQ directory themselves members of the LGBTQ community?

While therapists may choose to disclose their sexual orientation or gender identity in their profiles, the LGBTQ directory features not only those who have shared this information but also those who assert specialized training or experience in providing support to queer individuals, couples or families.
