Your life seems to be going well, but deep inside you feel like you're just a great pretender. You’re doing your best to be a good parent, partner, daughter, co-worker, but no matter how hard you try, you end up feeling like you could be better. You’re struggling with feelings of doubt, grief, shame and irritability. When the day is over you deal with restless thoughts traveling a mile a minute, all to remind you of the things you have yet to get done. You can’t sleep and no matter how many times you try to organize your life, it just seems to always feel messy. One day you're a “go getter”, next day you struggle to get out of bed.

People seek counseling at those times they are experiencing life in a much different way than they ever expected, and recently that became true for all of us. These are difficult times when many of us have endured all kinds of pain and trauma. Many of our relationships have suffered greatly. I have been in practice as a therapist for over 40 years and served on the clinical faculty for 15 years in a university setting. As a Pastoral Psychotherapist and a Licensed LMFT I provide a safe place, a caring sanctuary, where people can talk openly and explore themselves and their relationships to find clarity, understanding and direction.

In building resiliency there is a frequent pivot between surrendering & fighting for strength to define a purposed life. At our best we clearly see our resilience, but at our worst our vision is often disillusioned with the “could haves”/“should haves”. I work with adolescents & adults to help shape an achievable vision to work towards actualizing your greatest potential. Using a Strength-based approach I shift self-talk away from constant thoughts about “what’s wrong” to “what’s good” as the smallest affirmation can uplift immensely. When appropriate, I incorporate Spiritual Social Work as empowerment to faith over fear.

My practice focuses on providing a goal-oriented therapeutic experience for my clients. I have many years of experience working in multiple settings and am aware of the difficulties we face in today's society. During sessions together, I will help set goals and develop an atmosphere of trust, fostering open discussion of the client's thoughts and feelings. I work with teenagers and adults experiencing anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, chronic health issues, emotional/behavior concerns, learning disabilities, relationship/family issues, and grief/loss.

Facing challenges around trauma, intimacy, sexuality, gender, and sexual orientation can be the most intimate challenges of our lives, about which we're afraid of being misunderstood and judged. I'll help you using methods specific to your needs, situation, and comfort level (which never involve any nudity, touching, or sexual behavior). I'll help you feel empowered, achieve healing, reclaim intimacy, and improve quality of life. We'll work together, at your pace, in a relaxed, non-judgmental, private setting. My office is a safe, LGBTQ affirming space.

Trauma, stress, grief, betrayal, loneliness, depression, and anxiety all lead to psychological distress which impacts our minds, bodies, and souls. I specialize in working with adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, bipolar, trauma and abuse recovery, and grief and loss. Our intimate relationships are crucial in promoting our wellbeing, yet sometimes those relationships become the source of our greatest pain. I also specialize in working with intimate relationship issues including infertility, communication, infidelity, divorce recovery, co-parenting, and blending of families.
