Ask yourself, Do I act now, make an appointment & start to reboot my life or Do I continue to read profiles & tell myself that I’ll decide later? Ultimately the choice is yours, but remember that putting yourself 1st is not selfish, it’s sensible.
“I deserve better!” You tell yourself this daily, but somehow you continue to do things that leave you feeling stuck & inadequate. Daily you become more unmotivated & hopeless. Well, it is not by chance that you stopped at my profile. I believe that everyone deserves to live a meaningful life, but that many do not experience this life because they are either immobilized by their fears, lack direction/clarity about their purpose or they get distracted & lose focus. You already have the inner resources & strengths needed to transform your life & I am committed to supporting & empowering you to start your journey towards wellness

Relationships are such an important aspect of our everyday life. Whether it's a personal relationship or a professional relationship, navigating our own pain and self awareness while trying to build and maintain our relationships could be challenging. In addition to helping adults and teens in understanding and managing feelings and thoughts that impact how they relate to others, I specifically provide support for couples who are navigating through the pain and healing from an affair.

The one place we all deserve to feel safe in is within ourselves. So many things disrupt that safety - childhood wounds, attachment issues, relational conflict, trauma and more. With each wound, a piece of solace is scraped from our being. For many of us, these experiences have left us feeling “stuck” inside ourselves, trapped, and we can’t get out, when what we desire is our “being” to be a place we love and feel safe in. How we show up in the world - the decisions we make, the trust we have in ourselves, how we navigate relationships, and even the courage we gather to heal- is a direct reflection of how safe we feel.

I believe therapy helps us understand the power of the mind. This is especially useful when we feel disconnected, marginalized, or stigmatized. When we feel this way, learning how the mind channels this information through thoughts, feelings, emotions, and perceptions, can influence us to recognize our own cognitive processes and how they impact our life. If we attend to our cognitive processes in a healthy way, it may lead to regulation of mood, clarity, balance and feelings of peace. We start to evolve and accept certain things about ourselves. We begin to feel at peace from within. I help my clients through this process.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
