I’m sure there have been many times when you just don’t know what to do or have been going through some tough moments in which you wish you had someone you could trust. I can help. The first half of my career was spent in two hospitals providing various services to the inpatient and outpatient population working on medical, surgical, ICU, Burn, and specialty services as well as inpatient physical rehabilitation, substance abuse, and psychiatric units. The second has included counseling in health clinics, in-home, primary and secondary schools, and the incarcerated populations.

I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who works with individuals, couples, and families dealing with a wide range of concerns. I treat every patient on a case by case basis that specifically meets your personal needs, experiences, and personalities. Clinically speaking, however, I use an integrative orientation with emphasis on cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused, and mindfulness approaches. My goal is to help individuals and families in my community to better understand themselves and their situations so that they can find the strength, healing, and tools/coping skills to deal with any obstacles life has presented them with.

I have specialized training in working with pre and post op bariatric surgery patients. I have specialized programs for binge eaters, bulimics and anorexics as well and trauma and sexual abuse for the last 40+ years. This work has been my passion since I was over 450 pounds when I was younger and with the help of special therapists was able to lose over 250 pounds and managed to keep that weight off all these years. I was also sexually abused as a young child which led to the onset of my eating disorder.

She has a diverse background of experience working with children, adults, families, and communities in a variety of settings. She is passionate about helping clients who feel overwhelmed to develop healthy coping skills so they can better deal with life stressors and transitions.

My clients come from diverse backgrounds. I help individuals that typically struggle with identity issues, depression, anxiety, stress, and anger. I work with people who need help overcoming depression, anxiety, mood swings, addictions, disappointments, grief, hopelessness, as well as trauma. I enjoy helping people who are willing to take the risk to address the most difficult issues in their lives because they think that they are worth the change! I work with my clients to assist them to find hope and truth that I believe are catalysts for positive changes in their lives.

In light of my experience, I have worked in Mental Health Institutions, Drug and Alcohol Treatment centers, and conducted workshops on getting unstuck, finding passion, and life and social skills.

I am a Licensed Counseling Psychologist with over 20 years of clinical experience in both the US and Jamaica. Along with my clinical work, I spent 17 years teaching college students and see myself as both a clinician and teacher with my clients. I pride myself on being able to motivate, guide and support clients, as well as teach them how to help themselves. I am also the founder and director of the business In the Name of Children, LLC.

My focus is a strength-based approach. I strive to educate and empower clients to build upon their strengths, identify their purpose, and achieve their life goals.
