Everyone can benefit from having a trusting relationship and receiving validation. From that basis, in a non-judgmental interaction people can begin to get clarity on their wants and needs. From enhancing self-esteem to setting boundaries and resolving anxiety/depression people can change.

I draw from IFS, narrative, multicultural, feminist, & relational perspectives, which considers people in relation to their individual, cultural, political, & societal contexts.
I believe therapy is a space of growth, empowerment, self-understanding, self-compassion, and catharsis in a world that makes it all too hard, especially for marginalized populations; sexual and gender minorities, folx of color, etc; communities who need and deserve such spaces because of the impact of systemic discrimination but have had the least access to it. I believe that choosing to engage in a therapy is a brave act & honor that in my approach. Through lived & professional experience as a queer South Asian acearo person, I am especially interested in identity-exploration & working with folx of color identifying as ace/aro

I welcome all backgrounds and identities, and cater to each individual, while focusing on internal family systems and other specific techniques such as mindfulness, DBT, CBT, and feminist therapy.
Beginning the healing process can feel quite daunting and understandably so. The good news is that narratives can be unlearned! I challenge my clients to turn inward and learn how to consciously trust their natural intuition while gaining awareness towards a deeper sense of self. Here, we will explore the body and mind connection, and how it relates to your current coping and behavior. Whether you have spent years in therapy or if this is your first time, you can anticipate a judgment-free space informed by creativity, humor, and compassion.

My specializations include sex therapy, trauma, and grief and my therapeutic orientation is relational, feminist, and behavioral.
Life transitions often lead us to feel overwhelmed. While people close to us may be supportive, we may not always feel able to share with them our doubts and discomfort. Whether we’re holding our own or a loved one's sexuality or gender identity; navigating changes in our primary relationships, or reflecting on adverse experiences, having a safe space to reflect and process is invaluable. My practice serves adult clients who have struggled with anxiety, live with trauma or grief, or who experience the world as members or allies of the LGBTQ+ community. My approach is conversational, strengths-based, and results-oriented.

My approach to psychotherapy is collaborative and draws on psychodynamic, relational, and feminist theories.
Therapy can create a safe and supportive environment to rebuild resiliency and a sense of balance following a crisis or major life event. For many of my patients, the decision to start a family is met with unexpected hurdles such as fertility challenges, pregnancy loss, and pregnancy and postpartum depression/anxiety. I help women navigate the isolation, loneliness and strained relationships that are common to these experiences. I hold space for both grief and hope throughout your unique journey.

I draw from trauma-informed, LGBTQ+ affirming, psychodynamic, feminist and anti-racist treatment frameworks.
Therapy can help bring awareness to our patterns of thought and behavior, allow space to feel the emotions we don’t always give ourselves time for, understand the impact of trauma and heal from it, and learn skills to emotionally regulate, communicate more intentionally, see new perspectives. Therapy is a place to be free of stigma and fear of judgment. It’s a place where you don’t have to present yourself as a finished product; in therapy, we get to stay in rough draft.

I employ many therapeutic theories including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Feminist Therapy and Person-Centered Therapy.
Helping others meet their wellness goals is a passion of mine, and I believe everyone deserves to be heard and valued. Having worked in service fields for many years the transition to counseling was a natural progression for me. ‍ I am excited to work with individuals in one-on-one counseling as well as in a group setting. Over the course of my adult life I have worked extensively with individuals battling obesity, binge eating disorder and food addiction and something that I have learned is that guilt and shame are roadblocks that prevent us from moving forward.

I integrate feminist and multicultural approaches, and strive to help explore the impacts of oppression, privilege, and societal expectations, on mental health.
I work with adults who want to address anxiety disorders, past trauma, and interpersonal/attachment concerns. My therapeutic approach is catered for each client. For those with anxiety, I use evidence-based approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and exposure and response prevention (ERP) to help my clients learn about the intersections between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Much of therapy includes learning and trying out new ways of thinking, utilizing coping skills that emphasize regulating your nervous system, and safely exposing yourself to anxiety-provoking things in order to overcome your fears.

Feminist Therapists

How does feminist therapy work?

Feminist therapy sessions are not only personal but often cultural or political in nature, as the approach is based on the belief that people are affected by, and often struggle with, cultural and societal norms and biases, and need to move beyond those external pressures or stressors to tap their own confidence and engage more fully in their own identity. Sessions may therefore include discussions of sexism, diversity, and gender issues and talk of steps toward greater empowerment for patients who believe they have been silenced and seek to raise their voices.

What are examples of feminist therapy techniques?

Along with traditional talk therapy and analysis, a feminist therapist may employ techniques such as role-playing and assertiveness training to help clients build their self-esteem so that they feel they can act freely, and not based on cultural expectations or gender roles dictated by others. A feminist therapist may also engage in bibliotherapy, offering suggested readings on gender identity or social power inequities as they work toward viewing mental-health concerns through a broad cultural lens before focusing on how they affect the individual. Somatic therapy techniques, with an emphasis on body awareness, self-compassion, and mindfulness practices are also often part of feminist therapist practice.

How long does feminist therapy last?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for feminist therapy; people who believe that they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that had been holding them back. It may take some time to become comfortable discussing personal issues, but once a client feels they can do so, they could expect therapy to last for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.

Does feminist therapy work?

As a relatively recent therapeutic technique, there is not yet a body of evidence proving the efficacy of feminist therapy. However, the approach is based on proven core principles of talk therapy, with a particular emphasis on developing a therapeutic relationship based on equality and authentic connection between therapist and client and discovering and building on clients’ personal strengths to help them gain a greater sense of personal power and agency.
