If my specialties are a match, please call to share the areas in your life you want help. Neuroplasticity is the nervous system + brain's ability to re-wire its responses to outside or inside stimuli.

Our life journey is all about the ups and downs, the unforeseeable paths that throw us off balance. Have you felt there is no hope or no end to your troubles? Have you been in pieces in your relationships due to finances, infidelity, work issues, and constant arguments? How many of us are quietly unhappy and lonely in our relationships? Why do I wake up sad and alone and cannot explain it? Things that I enjoyed before don't bring any joy. Children seem to be adding stress to the family dynamics. Why am I not able to control my anger? The life cycle changes add to the daily stress. How do I shift from where I am stuck?

I specialize in individual therapy, pre-marital and marriage counseling, and in parenting and family issues.
I believe that many emotional problems people experience stem from the accumulation of previously well intentioned but flawed solutions for every day difficulties. These solutions often create secondary dysfunctional issues which aggravate the original problem. This vicious cycle is particularly relevant to relationships. Unreasonable expectations of oneself and others combined with inappropriate behavior in certain situations contribute to the downward spiral. Using evidence based strategies, I coach clients to make the appropriate attitudinal, emotional and behavioral changes necessary which can result in creative and workable solutions to their difficulties resulting in lasting emotional growth and greater satisfaction with their lives.

I have helped many teens and families set household expectations to avoid misunderstandings and create balance within the family system.
I've often described myself as a personal trainer for the mind. My approach is uncomplicated but requires hard work by both therapist and client. I use this simple motto: Change your thoughts, change your life. My passion is empowering clients to engage in deep self reflection and challenge the unhealthy choices we make on a daily basis that result in increased stress and prevent us from experiencing joy. I'd be honored to help you take control of your mental health and guide you through the process of making a lasting lifestyle change.

As a Marriage and Family Therapist , I work with all ages, and configurations from couples and families to individuals and children.
Are you noticing that your daily life does not feel fulfilling? Do your relationships with loved ones feel distant or strained? Do you feel lonely in your marriage or wish for more closeness with your children? Do you find yourself parenting in ways that are not effective, and only serve to build resentment? Have you found that you know what you are "supposed" to be doing, but don't do it? The process of self-exploration or exploration with your family or partner can help. I work from the perspective that everything you need to heal or change already exists in you, and my role is to serve as a guide in your inner growth.

I believe that the root of a problem can be traced back to the family system.
Is life feeling difficult right about now? Could you use someone to talk to outside of your family and friends? I'm here for you. I have experience working with a myriad of concerns but my most common ones are: family conflict, relational issues, self-esteem/confidence, depression, anxiety, life transitions and identity exploration. If one or many of these issues resonate with you, I am here to provide some support and maybe even offer new insight into your situation.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
