I have experience helping individuals, teens, and families with; anxiety, depression, ADHD, panic disorder, grief /loss, relationship issues, blended family conflict, divorce, questioning spirituality/faith, PTSD, and past or current trauma.
Finding a therapist that fits your needs and that you can connect with can be time-consuming and feel defeating, especially if trusting others has been hard. If you have found yourself here don't lose hope, I am a therapist who will listen without judgment, and care about your needs. It is my goal that you leave feeling like you have been heard and have found a space where you can feel safe to unload your thoughts, and find solutions.

"Peace comes from within. Do not seek it without." Sometimes it is difficult to find that inner peace and we need guidance from others. I have learned throughout my many years of working with adolescents, individuals, and families that without inner peace, we tend to feel stuck, lost and not be able to live the life we desire. My hope is that through individual or family therapy, I can help you create coping tools in areas of your life where you desire change.

Suppose you are struggling with trauma, anxiety, stress, depression, family issues, loss and grief, or relationship issues.
Our foundational beliefs, values, experiences, and attitudes are the foundation upon which everything that comes into our lives is built. Like building a home, if a stone in the foundation is skewed, the house is structurally compromised. When we experience trauma or negative experiences, everything that touches upon that foundation is compromised. This can lead to anxiety, depression, relationship issues, low self-esteem, suicidal thoughts, PTSD, and a loss of life direction, just to name a few possible results. We all can restructure our lives through processing and perspective.

My second Master's degree is in Marriage, Family, Child therapy.
For me, working with teens and their families, along with couples and individuals, is my vocation rather than my profession. I help families and teens make sense of the struggles faced by kids and their parents today. I help couples rebuild strong bonds. I guide individuals into a heightened awareness of themselves and their world. Another professional/personal passion is Cancer. In this domain, it really takes one to know one (and their caretakers). Guiding either the patient or caretaker is a new mission for me. I work closely with the sentiments in Dr. Kelly Turner's books - Radical Remission and Radical Hope.

I believe that people and relationships can thrive if given the proper support, nourishment, and environment. We are all given the same tools, but how helpful can it be if we were never taught how to use them?

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
