When I am not at work, I invest in my own self-care through my love for fitness and spending time with my family and friends.
The ever-changing circumstances and obstacles throughout our lives may be overwhelming and difficult to overcome. Therefore, seeking guidance for self-discovery, life transitions or managing your mental health concerns can be a difficult decision. It is important to have a safe and non-judgmental place to explore your inner thoughts and behaviors. Engagement in therapy will facilitate one’s achievements of their goals and new way of living. By taking this first step you will increase your sense of personal control, learn new skills, and enhance your overall well-being.

I enjoy helping people identify self-defeating behavioral patterns and replace them with healthier ways to cope. Of particular interest to me is counseling people struggling with depression, grief/loss, abrupt life changes, or coping with chronic or terminal medical/physical conditions, whether it's you or a family member. I utilize only research driven, clinically approved approaches to therapy, such as cognitive-behavioral and solution-focused methods.

I wanted to get into the mental health field from a young age, as I was always surrounded by friends and family who struggled with mental health.
I am a Licensed Social Worker with a passion for decreasing the stigma surrounding mental health and promoting the health and well being of my clients. For my undergraduate degree, I moved from Central Jersey (Yes! It exists!) to South Jersey to attend Stockton University. I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Work with a Minor in Behavioral Neuroscience from Stockton, and then moved on to attend graduate school in Philadelphia. I received my Master of Social Work Degree with a clinical concentration from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Social Policy and Practice in May of 2020.

I’m a Marriage and Family Therapist, specially trained in working with couples & individual women ages 18-50. Some areas I specialize in are: couples work (masculine and feminine polarity, conflict skills, deepening understanding), sex therapy, parenting, phase of life anxiety, dating, becoming truly authentic & aligned, building self-compassion, Brainspotting, and healing black & white, shame-based distortions caused by religious trauma (without encouraging abandoning beliefs). My biggest philosophy is BALANCE- and learning to find “the sweet spot” in tricky, polarizing concepts. I see balance as the “key” to remedying SO much.

I believe the primary role of a therapist is to help clients gain a sense of hope. Life can be challenging, even in the best of times, and talking through your issues can help. I'll do my best to help you figure out the root causes causes of your problems so they don't keep popping up. My job is not to advise you or to tell you what to do. Instead, I'll listen to your story and guide you as you develop a new way of living your life and dealing with the challenges that come your way. I strongly believe in the importance of the family. Each individual is important in the family system and brings a different dynamic into it. I enjoy working with individuals and families: both parent/child and sibling relationships. While I am most passionate about working with individuals suffering with trauma/PTSD, anxiety/depression, the family relationship needs support as well, particularly with challenging children. Sometimes an outside perspective can help us see things differently. Challenges in a family are guaranteed, but with some encouragement and support, we can become stronger through those challenges.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
