I also use EMDR as a treatment for trauma, anxiety, and depression.
I believe that creating a safe space where clients are accepted for being their authentic selves creates healing and self-understanding leading clients to living their most fulfilling lives possible. I believe that the relationship between therapist and client is the most healing and helpful aspect of therapy. I strive to help individuals navigate challenges while allowing for self-compassion, exploration, and self-love. I encourage clients to see their strengths in order to achieve their goals. I aim for empathy, respect, play, humor, and learning to be a part of therapy for all ages.

I practice EMDR and also use approaches like Internal Family Systems, CBT, ACT, and regular old talk therapy to provide a space where you can get to know yourself better.
“When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.” - Victor Frankl. A lot of us seek out therapy after we’ve been living in the same struggles for so long and nothing seems to change. We can get stuck in ways of thinking, feeling, and acting that just seem to hold us back or make things worse. When we start to look inside it can feel pretty daunting and we’re left to choose between undergoing a messy healing process or staying stuck in the same patterns. We all have parts of us that at one point served us but maybe they don’t anymore, and we all have parts of us that need healing.

In addition to my education and 21 years of practice experience, I have completed extensive EMDR training.
I see psychotherapy as a very essential tool for addressing difficulties, building skills, and honing strengths so that you can live your fullest life. Let's face it, life can get complicated. Sometimes even your day-to day can be hard. And the unexpected does happen. Some things we are not meant to go through alone. I can help with the everyday struggles as well as with the big, once-in-a lifetime events that we will all experience.

Through brain-body therapies ( EMDR & IFS), you'll restore your nervous system & repair old wounds — without having to talk the whole time if you don’t want to.
Accepting New Clients, Sept 2024: Are you a highly sensitive, neurodivergent person who feels uncomfortable in your own skin? You’ve spent your life feeling different, struggling with a loud inner critic. In order to fit in, you’ve learned to mask your true self — your deepest emotions & thoughts, your natural ways of speaking & moving. You’re so used to the mask, you’re not sure who the real you is. After being told many times that you’re “too sensitive,” you don't know how to trust yourself. There are painful experiences you know you need to process. You’re ready to heal & feel more at peace with yourself. I’d love to support you.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
