I use a range of therapeutic modalities, including CBT, Psychodynamic, Mindfulness-Based, Trauma ( EMDR) and Solution- Focused Therapy to help my clients work through their challenges and achieve their goals.
Therapy is a powerful tool for reflection and change. Whether working with children, teens, or adults, my approach is collaborative and goal-oriented. Sometimes we become stuck in painful or unsatisfying ways of being and need a safe space to learn about ourselves, heal, and grow. Issues I commonly work with include behavioral concerns, relationships, life transitions, self-esteem, anxiety, depression, and trauma. I work with clients to understand the impact of past experiences on the present, but also focus on the here-and-now in session and incorporate breathing and meditation practices to cope with everyday stress.

Trained in EMDR and TF-CBT, my approach to therapy is collaborative, trauma-informed, and creative.
I am grounded in the belief that we have the intrinsic capacity to heal. I am committed to supporting the development of compassion, wakefulness, and ease, in response to anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and unresolved trauma. As a trained yoga teacher and practicing Zen Buddhist, I view physical/spiritual health, mindfulness practice, and engagement with philosophical inquiry to be the pillars for emotional well-being. With a robust background as a playwright, I draw on my writing practice and the innate creativity of my clients as guides along the healing journey.

Many people are happy with their current talk therapist but are also interested to learn how EMDR may be used to help in processing traumatic events in context of their ongoing therapy relationship.
I am most well suited to help people working through life transitions, difficult relationships, trauma and anxiety. I also find I work particularly well with people drawn to visual imagery and other nonverbal experience. While verbal expression is essential, we all also carry internal images, physiological and emotional expressions that can stretch well beyond words. I find working efficiently with these nonverbal elements can generate deeper connections and expand therapeutic potentials in very effective ways. What kinds images come to mind when you think about your life experience? What kinds of sounds and smells?

Through a blend of Mindfulness, "parts work," EMDR, and acceptance and commitment therapy, I hold space for my clients to identify, feel, and accept their feelings while recognizing what is within their power to change.
Striving for mental health and wellness in a society with as many issues as ours is hard. Finding a therapist to support you in that, can sometimes feel even harder. What criteria do you base your decision on? Degrees, years in practice, areas of expertise, whether they still meet people in person... But what a profile and your research cannot tell you, happens to be the most important criteria: if the two of you will "fit.” The best and quickest way to know for certain is to schedule the appointment.

I'm well-versed in trauma and, if appropriate, weave EMDR into the talk therapy work we do together.
Life can throw a lot our way and sometimes it's hard to know where to turn. That's where counseling comes in. Here, whatever ails you is welcome. If you have specific issues you want to address, we can work on navigating them. If you're confused, feeling directionless or unsure, we can build a space where you feel safe to sit with your emotions, gain clarity, and process together. Maybe you don't have a specific problem but you could use someone to listen without judgment; no matter the reason you're here you've come to the right place.

I have specialized training in Attachment-Focused EMDR, Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Child-Parent Psychotherapy.
These challenging times can strain our abilities to cope. You may find you are more fatigued or more irritable; many are feeling the stress in important relationships. It has been an especially difficult time for children and teens, and their parents. All of this makes it a good time to get some consultation and support. I believe that healing starts with self compassion. I can help you to cultivate a compassionate curiosity that honors your strengths and explores the areas where you would like to change and grow.

I am an EMDR trained therapist who applies aspects of different types of therapy such as CBT, solution-oriented, psychodynamic, and trauma focused approaches to best suit your needs.
We are all out here trying to survive, and even the act of surviving can be overwhelming. The world sometimes feels like it's caving in and you’re not sure what to do. But, you deserve a moment to catch your breath before the next battle in your story. Whether that be dealing with relationships, internal trauma, or just day to day existing. No matter the reason, you deserve a chance to heal yourself and I aim to help you achieve that goal. I am a very engaging therapist and my therapy is designed to help you reach whatever your end goal may be. I want to help you get to a point where you don’t need to see me anymore.

I'm trained as a relational psychoanalyst and am also a certified EMDR practitioner.
I have over 30 years of experience working with adults, children and families, and an ongoing passion and engagement in the art of psychotherapy. When the fit is right, a good therapeutic relationship can provide a powerful vehicle for healing and transformation. I think for therapy to really gel, you need to feel that your therapist gets you, perhaps in a way few others have. Adults I work with often tell me they have that experience with me, that they feel fully seen and understood. My work with children began in my earliest days as a therapist - and it continues to be a central part of my practice.

While I have been trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis, I have also studied CBT, EMDR, trauma related therapies, meditation, yoga, art therapy, and other modalities.
I assist in helping each individual work through whatever may have brought them into therapy so that they can find their own internal potential and ability to better cope with stressful situations. I specialize in working with individuals dealing with depression, anxiety and panic related disorders, PTSD, relationship struggles, bereavement, and work related issues. I believe that therapy offers the individual a safe space to share their struggles and work on ways to resolve these difficulties with the support and assistance of the therapist.

I am an EMDR Certified Therapist.
You’re ready to realign to your authentic self with clarity, creativity, self compassion, and connection. I use a creative and effective approach to guide people to heal their pain that goes beyond talk therapy. Together we will create a pace that works best for you, and uncover the root of behavior that is no longer serving your highest good. I will help you identify what is burdening you, how to maneuver stressors, and recalibrate your body and mind to accept goodness into your life with ease.

I am trained in EMDR with an emphasis on attachment and trauma.
The brain, like the body, has a way of healing itself when provided the environment it needs to do so. I offer a calm and nurturing space for us to develop curiosity and capacity for change together. Much of my work is grounded in compassion and self-observation as a tool for both understanding and change. Whether you are looking for a specific change within yourself or seeking understanding in a broader sense, I will provide a warm and empathic environment to explore these issues. My style balances serious reflection with moments for humor and connection.

While I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Focusing, Mindfulness, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), and EMDR, I believe no single modality/theoretical approach is the key to successful change.
Are you seeking a life that feels more joyful, connected and in-control? With the right support, you can be happier, more deeply connected to yourself and other people, and gain control over extreme emotions or behaviors. In my practice, I encourage patients to investigate thought patterns, engage in mindful exercises and explore ways of knowing which access the unconscious. My approach is warm, open and practical and geared towards helping you deepen self-awareness and self-knowing. Whatever your personal goal is, we can work on it together.

I am certified in EMDR and integrate IFS language around complex issues.
Sometimes it's difficult to know the full extent of the way our trauma and life experiences have impacted us. We find ourselves repeating certain patterns that we know are not good for us and can't seem to break the chain, we constantly fall into moods and feelings that it's difficult to pull ourselves out of. In deciding to do therapy with me, together we learn how to identify the ways in which your past trauma and life experiences show up in your adult life and begin rewriting your narrative for your future.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
