I believe in our ability to change, grow, and live truly inspired lives. It can be so hard to find yourself feeling overwhelmed, anxious, worried, & unable to manage your emotions. You start to feel helpless and out of control. Or maybe, you are highly critical of yourself...and sometimes others. You constantly compare yourself to others and usually fall short. You just can't seem to quiet that negative voice in your head. It seems to have taken over and it's causing problems in many areas of your life. At its worst, it even affects your relationships with those you hold most dear.

There are times when life becomes overwhelming, stressful, or difficult to manage. We sometimes feel stuck with no way out.  Whether it is a life challenge causing you stress, anxiety, or feelings of sadness; difficulty managing your emotions that has caused issues in your personal / professional relationships; or you are a parent that needs more support for their child, we all benefit from extra support. I am here to help. Recognizing that one size does not fit all, I use a variety of treatment modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy, and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).

My ideal client is someone who has experienced trauma—whether from sexual assault, abuse, domestic violence, or other life-altering events. They may be struggling with anxiety, depression, PTSD, or low self-esteem. Perhaps they're facing challenges in their relationships or navigating significant life transitions. This client seeks healing and desires to reclaim control over their mind, body, and emotions. They want to overcome the pain of their past, build healthier relationships, and move toward a more fulfilling and empowered life.

Is your Child or Teen having problems with anxiety, depression, or self-esteem issues? Is your family having significant parent-child conflict? I want to help you & your family achieve a healthier life. Adolescents and young adults have unique challenges that can be difficult to navigate. During these critical periods in life, many may face peer issues, family conflict, self-esteem difficulty, parent-child conflict, and difficulty with transitions (e.g., high school to college; college to career). I have approximately 10 years of experience working with these age groups. Currently, I am also available to see young adult clients.

Accepting new clients. Navigating mental health challenges can be overwhelming. Does your teenager need strategies to handle anxiety, depression, ADHD, or tics/Tourette Syndrome? Does your toddler need help with sleep, behavior, tantrums, toileting, or eating? Does your child need help adjusting to big changes: a new school, problems with friends, divorce, or a new and confusing medical diagnosis like diabetes, epilepsy, or migraines? Or perhaps you just need a place to talk, process, and grow? I have helped families navigate these challenges and more, creating space for positivity, warmth, gratitude, flexibility, and bravery.

Healing and resiliency reside in each of us. When we develop the skills to tap into our existing strengths, we are able to live life fully. As a therapist, I strive to create a warm, non-judgmental environment that fosters a sense of safety and trust. In this healing environment, you will have the opportunity to gain greater self understanding, self-acceptance and self-compassion. I believe that the relationship we will develop is one the most important dynamics of counseling, and will set the stage for a rewarding process of transformation and growth.

Self Esteem Therapists

When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?

When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?

Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?

Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?

Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
