Waitlist for new clients
I welcome a variety of issues, individual diversity, and all kinds of couples.
Life throws us curveballs...and sometimes we realize that our old ways of coping just aren't working anymore. Counseling can be immensely helpful in getting back on track or adjusting to new life circumstances that are beyond our control. Learning new ways to engage problems, improve relationships, and deal with our negative feelings can be very beneficial to establishing and maintaining health, wellbeing, and happiness--so that the life we are living is one we truly want to be in! I specialize in personal and relationship issues, coping with changes, and seasons of depression and anxiety.

Some of the areas you might want to explore in therapy with me are: intimacy, sex & sexuality, trauma, relationship conflicts, addiction recovery, stress, anxiety, life transitions & goals, low self esteem, communication issues, dream work and transformational growth.
Chances are you're struggling to understand some area of your life, feeling stuck, hoping for new possibilities and outcomes. Maybe now is the time to reevaluate what you really want out of life and to make some changes. Perhaps the situation that has you most frustrated is providing you with an opportunity to look deep within yourself at the person you most fully want to be. I believe therapy is a partnership in which my responsibility is to provide you a safe, nonjudgmental and supportive space where you can bring whatever issues you wish to explore.

With me as your therapist, you get someone who genuinely cares, a partner as you get your life on track with your values and someone who knows her stuff.
Something just isn't working in your life. Your fights with your spouse are on the wash-rinse-repeat cycle. Motivation and drive have left the building, so you binge Netflix and feel guilty for not being productive. Your inner critic won’t stop telling you how bad, fat, or disappointing you are. You look in the mirror and see someone you hate and/or a body that disgusts you. You don’t like the way things are, but you don’t know how to change, and trying to do it yourself hasn’t worked.

Do you catch yourself overthinking or being too critical? Do you often wonder if you have accomplished “enough”? We keep trying to change how we think and feel about ourselves, but nothing seems to work for very long. However, this '“trying” can often lead to familiar reactions such as anxiety, depression, and relationship stress. So how does it get better?

Does life seem overwhelming and stressful? Has getting out of bed become another daunting task? Or maybe you need a listening ear, someone to help navigate daily activities or help manage your emotions because they are too much to handle right now. I work with adolescents and adults. I provide a judgment-free environment filled with compassion grounded in knowledge. I meet clients where they are in life and collaborate with them to address their individual needs. I use evidence-based approaches to therapy to manage negative thought patterns and discover skills within oneself to thrive, find hope and be a resilient person.

I believe in the healing power of safe relationships. I believe this because I have experienced being healed through therapeutic relationships. So many of us face the daily pain of being wounded by others, losing people we love, divorce, hating ourselves, feeling ashamed, alone, confused, or numb. We go to great lengths to manage the pain or anxiety we experience and often make wrecks of our lives and those around us. It is my desire to come along side hurting people and foster lasting growth and change. If you can relate to this, Welcome!

Is life feeling heavy? Are you in a dark place? Life events can have a major impact on us as humans. Depression, anxiety, trauma, substance abuse, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, identity struggles, and much more can be results of these events. Most importantly, we want to make sense of these things and why this is happening to us. What comes next is the need for a safe, warm, and nonjudgmental space to share these struggles with another human. This type of environment can help you discover many things about the dark that can bring light to your story. You just want to feel better.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
