When appropriate, topics such as family of origin issues, self-esteem, codependency are addressed in an effort to gain an understanding of how unhealthy coping skills adversely impact mood and lead to dysfunctions such as depression, anxiety and addictions.
Has life become overwhelming and left you feeling stuck? Are you struggling with improving your personal wellness and meeting life goals? Have you been reluctant to try therapy or have other therapeutic treatments failed? Together we can develop a treatment plan that is designed specifically for you. My focus is on helping individuals, couples and families understand emotions and learn how to communicate more effectively, thus creating an atmosphere of peace, harmony and growth.

Greetings. Treating people with dignity and respect is very important values that I was raised with and that has become a part of my foundation as a skilled professional providing behavioral health services for over 40 years. At a very young age I struggled to find someone I could relate to. I wanted to find someone that I could speak to freely and without judgement. I never found that as a young adult. As an adult I saw the need in my own community for mental health and family dynamics. All I have ever wanted to do and dedicated my entire life to is mental health wellbeing and understanding we all have the resources and the will power to overcome adversities.

My ideal client is someone who is willing to put in the work in the therapeutic process. The client should be able to recognize that there are changes that need to happen and are willing to do what it takes to make therapy work for them. The main issues that I work with are anxiety, depression and bipolar disorder. The goals of therapy would be to find a balance between where emotions no longer inhibit a person's ability to function on a daily basis.

We often realize that there are areas in our lives in which we know there has to be better, however we feel overwhelmed, stressed, and even uncapable of overcoming those situations that weigh us down and stop us from being the best version of ourselves. Doubt, anxiety, emotional discomfort and negative thoughts begin to surface our mind and become a part of who we are and we accept it. However, we were never created to survive we are created to succeed. It is ok to say "I need help". It is time to take our lives back and live the way it's meant to be lived. We are all learning to become a better person day by day. Today is your day!

As a queer woman who practices polyamory, I can understand how we are often unprepared for the difficulties that arise when living in a mononormative society. It makes sense that emotions like fear or depression are brought up when we go outside of those norms, even for the seasoned consensually nonmonogamous folks. Together we can navigate your polyamorous relationship structure if you or you and your partner(s) find yourselves with insecure attachment styles impacting your relationship(s), are having difficulty managing boundaries, or need help dismantling couple's privlege.

Life can be challenging, and relationships often come with their complexities. It can be difficult to maintain a sense of self while navigating these obstacles, especially when compounded by trauma, loss, low self-esteem, relationship conflicts, addiction, or depression. My goal is to help you navigate this journey, discover your truth, and guide you toward a life of greater happiness and peace. Overcoming inner struggles and expressing your thoughts are essential steps for growth and change. While building healthy connections is vital for happiness, the key lies in how well you care for and honor yourself.

As we continuously evolve in this journey called "Life", we all encounter many challenges that can hinder our ability to maintain a healthy mindset. Many of us tend to want the instant gratification of happiness and success but struggle with how to obtain it. Every client has unique situations, where one's sense of self-efficacy can play a major role in how they approach goals, tasks and challenges. These determinants play a major role in how thoughts are created, feelings are instilled and behaviors are executed. Therefore, through a wide range of individualized services customized and effective treatment plans are provided.

Codependency Therapists

What therapy types help with codependency problems?

Both couples and family therapy and cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT) can help with the relationship difficulties referred to as codependency. Such problems typically include inappropriate feelings of responsibility for a loved one’s destructive behavior, irrational patterns of thinking about such behavior, and family interaction patterns in which the needs of one troubled member override the needs of others in a household.

What happens in therapy for codependency?

Spouses and family members learn and practice how to interact and support each other in a healthy way without sacrificing their own needs or well-being. They learn the limits of their responsibility for their loved ones and correct faulty patterns of thinking and feeling that underlie codependent behavior. Individuals may be encouraged to nurture an array of social relationships and to cultivate their own talents and interests so that they develop a healthy sense of self outside the family.

How does therapy help a person or couple overcome codependency?

Therapy helps people establish healthy ways of being in a relationship. Spouses and family members learn how to nurture and support one another without sacrificing their own needs or allowing the needs of one person to dominate the dynamic. Individuals learn how to say no and set boundaries, and how to maintain their own identity and self-esteem. Therapy helps people understand that they are not responsible for the feelings and actions of others. It also helps individuals deal with the turbulence that can come from living with a person suffering from such conditions as substance abuse and mental illness.

What is the goal of therapy for codependency?

One goal of therapy for codependency is to alleviate feelings of responsibility for and correct irrational patterns of thinking about loved ones whose behavioral problems override the needs of others in a household. Therapy helps people establish healthy boundaries of behavior and speak up for their own needs in a relationship. In addition, people learn how to maintain a healthy relationship, one in which both parties give and receive equally and are able to retain their own identity.
