I utilize a combination of CBT, Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP) and Existential therapy approaches.
If anxiety, constant worries, self-doubt, or intrusive thoughts are interfering with your ability to enjoy your life, I want to help! I have been practicing therapy in Colorado since 2017, and although I have worked with a diverse range of clients I have found my niche working with adults who suffer from anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and related disorders. I love helping my clients break free from the grips of anxiety and intrusive thoughts so they can be present in their lives, enjoy the moments that matter with their loved ones, and confidently pursue their goals without that nagging worries and self-doubt.

My therapeutic approach is an integrated style using behavioral, existential, person-centered, and play interventions.
I know life can be challenging and is full of ups and downs. Sometimes those downs are hard to navigate. Death, illness, family disfunction, work, and self-identity... no matter your down, I may be able to help! My focus is grief, trauma, depression, anxiety, LGBTQ, and neurodivergence. I am an intern and I know seeing an intern may not be your first choice, but there are advantages. Contact me if you want to learn what they are.

We believe that everyone needs someone to listen, to feel understood and needs help to see the bigger picture without being judged. We believe that connection and community are essential in the world we live in today. At times, we let our troubles outshine the bigger picture of our life. We all have a need to feel worthy, worthwhile, wanted, appreciated and loved. Without meaningful connection we often try to silence our pain of disconnection by drugs, alcohol, overeating, social media and much more. Loving ourselves and others, vulnerability, connection and community are essential steps for growth as we navigate life’s journey.

With a warm blend of directness and care, I work from a blend of Gestalt, Attachment and Existential therapy, where I challenge and support my clients to increase mind and body connection, find purpose and meaning in life, to accept their whole selves (the difficult and wonderful parts), and take steps to create the life they want.
Life is full of difficulties, disappointments, and pain, as well as growth, joy, healing, and adventure, and sometimes we need help bridging those two things in our life. In sessions with clients, I am committed to creating a safe and supportive space to collaborate on healing and self discovery together. Within sessions, I meet clients with curiosity and without judgment as I invite them to be vulnerable, experiment, and take risks. Having experienced therapy personally, I know of the importance of gaining a strong, safe, and empowering relationship between therapist and client, and this is one of my biggest priorities in my work.

Fifteen years ago, in my late 20s, I faced an existential crisis. The pain and shame of knowing I was meant for more—more happiness, meaning, and purpose—without knowing how to get there was overwhelming. At times, terrifying. With the help of others, I discovered my unique path to an authentic, self-led life. My mission as a therapist is to return that gift. I believe we all have an innate ability to heal from past wounds, rewrite our inner story, and reunite with a sense of self that feels whole, connected, and fulfilled.

Would you like to work on your issues with mindfulness, compassion and curiosity? Those are the qualities we use together to work with depression, grief, anxiety and relationship issues. Becoming aware of and learning to work with one's inner critic is very helpful too. In general, counseling and psychotherapy are powerful tools that can help us to feel better. I offer a safe, supportive and calm place to explore your self and your life. We can use traditional therapy techniques as well as mindfulness or meditative approaches to start to feel better as well as to grow and change.

Grief is not about "getting over it." It's not a medical condition that needs to be cured, nor does it fit into a box. It is about loss...a break up, death of a loved one, end of a friendship, job loss or the end of a career, divorce, or the loss of a dream. Some days it may feel like you are drowning in a tidal wave of sadness. Other days, a pocket of grief envelopes you because of a song, smell, or memory. You grieve as deeply as you love, and your grief demands to be felt!

"The only way out is through." I am committed to helping my clients discover what it means to truly live fully -- to experience healing in relationships, to understand their strength, to embrace their uniquenesses and to live a life of wholeness and adventure. At the core, I believe that we are relational beings, and while relationships are often the primary sources of our pain, they are also the primary conduits to our healing. Together we will find ways THROUGH the pain and into freedom. There is too much LIFE to be lived...too much adventure to be had...

As my ideal client, you recognize that you are concerned about the situation in your life that is causing you distress, and are willing to learn what YOU can do to change the condition. You recognize that you are ready to give up the "status quo", any sense of victimhood, and that you can; and are willing; to make changes within yourself that will be a positive influence on the outer experience. You are the responsible type that keeps appointments and a clean financial status. And, you will recognize that you and I are a likely a good match.

Like you, I am human. I’ve had many sweet moments in my life. But I’ve also had some experiences that were pretty brutal. Plus, some stretches in-between when I was simply adrift, dealing with tough decisions, feeling alone, a bit lost, trying to manage the tectonic shifts of being mortal. I was always grateful for family and friends. But sometimes they weren’t enough. When I finally gathered the courage to see a therapist for the first time, it was a remarkable experience for me, completely different from talking with my buddies! I felt like the counselor understood me in a way I didn't even understand myself.

Do you sometimes feel like you have no idea why you do the things you do? For all your accolades and admirable qualities sometimes you surprise yourself in how you treat your partner, your kids, or a friend? The people I work with are vibrant and creative, yet tend to overthink, get overwhelmed and often overindulge. Substance misuse and addiction don’t have to be part of your story but I specialize in that area too.

Existential Therapists

How does existential therapy work?

Existential therapy focuses on a patient’s inner experiences. The therapist tries to help the individual comprehend and alleviate symptoms by exploring their interior life. By confronting negative disquiet and emotions, the individual will hopefully become more open to finding meaning and purpose. This therapy can be administered to individuals or groups.

Is existential therapy evidence-based?

Existential therapy is an evidence-based practice. Research has determined that existential therapy can lead to significant improvement in the mental health of patients, and for some people it can be just as effective as cognitive behavioral therapy. The benefits of existential therapy are enduring, even long after treatment has ended.

How long does existential therapy last?

The goal of existential therapy is to understand a person’s internal experiences, which may sound like a lengthy process, but it does not have to be so in-depth. However, sessions are not short-term, and therapy can continue for months or up to a year. And because patients learn the theory behind existential therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have been completed.

Is existential therapy effective?

According to research, many patients find success with existential therapy. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in improving feelings of isolation, feelings of purposelessness, as well as conditions such as anxiety and depression. Improvements in problem areas can persist even after the end of existential therapy, as individuals can continue working on themselves by using the tools they’ve developed during treatment.
