I welcome any individual, couple, and/or family who are willing to do some solution focused work to bring some freedom, hope, and joy. I use a variety of tools (forms of therapy) and see the best results when there is motivation to change. My wheel house is related to marital, parental, anxiety and depressive challenges, trauma(s), and/or personal crisis needing an intervention. I enjoy coaching and facilitating the process for a client to live fully in the present, free of any self-limiting beliefs or behavior patterns that no longer serve you well. I like to consider myself a hope dispenser.

I also come from a Christian perspective, although I am open to working with people from all backgrounds. I have been formerly trained in trauma-informed practices and I am a Certified WRAP Facilitator. I sincerely care about helping people overcome their tragedies and I whole-heartedly support recovery from trauma, addictions, and life experiences that could potentially provide setbacks. I believe the saying, "A setback is a setup for a comeback!"

My name is Yolanda Bolden and I am an Associate Marriage Family Therapist (AMFT). I graduated from Holy Names University where I earned my Bachelor’s and Master's Degree in Psychology. In addition to working at A to Z Psychotherapy, I am also a Behavioral Health Clinician with Alameda County Health Care Services. I have over 25 years of experience working with children, young women and young adults in the Christian Community as a bible study teacher, and group facilitator.

I am comfortable working with people of every age, from school children to elders, from diverse social, economic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds. Most of the clients I see on a regular basis are working to better handle depression, anxiety, anger, trauma, or family and relationship problems. While I naturally gravitate toward Cognitive Behavior Therapy, I have an understanding of, and am comfortable using several different clinical and therapeutic modalities to match the clients needs. I have extensive experience working with people of all ages who have faced issues of anxiety, trauma (sexual, childhood, relationship and domestic violence), depression, addiction, and gender/sexuality. I have education and experience in areas of behavioral intervention, trauma-focused CBT, Internal Family Systems, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, and working with addiction or compulsions that are impacting your life. I focus on dynamic therapy techniques of assisting individuals in self actualizing (striving for and reaching personal and professional goals) to the extent of their interests and abilities, not the expectations set by others. I specialize in working with depression, anxiety, concerns related to weight and body image, and the life challenges that affect all of us on a regular basis. I also specialize in family separation and custody needs. You do not have to have a specific or serious diagnosis to benefit from therapy. Everyone can benefit from therapy and seeking therapy does not make a person sick.

My approach is deeply rooted in Emotionally Focused Therapy, a modality I've embraced to help couples break free from negative patterns and forge stronger, more intimate bonds. Through this method, I guide couples in acknowledging and addressing their emotional needs, ensuring both partners feel seen, heard, and deeply connected.

First things first, I WILL return your call! I work with Couples, Individuals and Children/Teens. I have availability for both in-person and virtual/online. My office is in Lodi, CA but virtual is available for anybody within California. I do not accept insurance but I can provide you with an invoice that you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement. Most insurances reimburse 60% of the agreed upon rate with an outside provider.
